Is Sturgis really the biggest event for pick-ups and trailers anywhere in the world? Is it in the Guinnes World Book of Records?

  1. That's what Sturgis has become and that's why I won't go any more. I've got 2 t-shirts I like to wear to po the rubs. One is "If you can't ride the fu**er here then leave the fu**er there" and "nice trailer pu**y"    20 grand and 20 miles does not make you a biker!!

  2. yes, many people haul their bikes to Sturgis in a trailer, and they also use the trailer to sleep in at night because there are not enough hotel rooms in Sturgis

  3. Yes. It's sad, but that's the way it is.

Funny, I've heard the "gas prices" excuse before. Even fully-loaded down, my bike would get 20 more MPG than my daily driver. Plus, half the fun of Sturgis is getting there.

Last time I was at Sturgis, it was full of yuppies. Each one decorated head-to-toe in HD gear, each one had their SUV keys hanging off their belt loop. You can always catch them with that "deer caught in a headlight" look as they wander around. I'm sorry, I always have to laugh at it. For example: The 25 yr-old newb on his Sportster, sporting the tribal arm band tattoo and doo-rag telling the 70-yr old Korean War vet on the Goldwing to "get a real bike" (when the 70-yr old vet probably had hundreds of thousands of miles under his belt compared to Mr Newb's 200). A few months later, the Sportster's in craigslist ("Hardly ridden, low miles!") and the Goldwing has another 5000 miles on the odometer...

A few years ago, I stumbled across a couple in their 50's, sitting under shade next to their Vulcan Nomad. As we got to talking, they revealed that they had just arrived from Alaska, by way of South America and up the west coast. Holy cow... I didn't care what they rode, they had my attention and respect!

  4. it is a shame, see a j*p bike in the paper and it has 20 or ,30,000 miles on it, see a harley and its a 1999 with 1,200 miles on it and they want to sell it for todays prices.

If you Buy it, Ride it.

  5. Most of my Buddy's bought Harley's. Many of them went to the 100th anniversary party in Milwaukee. All of those trailered their bikes.

  6. Id say Daytona Bike week is a bigger event ! but ive never to Sturgis

  7. silly yuppie trailers are for boats !

  8. LOL - HD bikes are pretty to  look at but even the owners dont ride them

  9. trailering your bilke is a sickness dial 1 800 scared to ride!!!! damb posers. I ride a straight up ol school chopper EVERYWHERE EVERY DAY!!!!!!

  10. Dyna flow hum. Great name! Frank ZaPPA would be proud!

  11. Sadly becoming the case.

  12. Probably is, sadly. But the price of gas and diesel is having its affect on those pickups. I know I ride today where I would have driven a year ago. It's just economics (and more fun). HD Road King
