Question:

Question for Italians?

I've just got back from Rome and loved it. Id like to go back in the future for maybe 6 - 8 weeks to do some voluntary work at the cat sanctuary but I need to earn some money to live. Can anyone suggest anything and also any tips on where I could look for accomodation that wouldnt break the bank as I dont think a hotel would be viable for that length of time.

Thanks for your help

  1. A cheap place to stay is in a convent, but there is a curfew and you have to be in quite early every night.  But on the other hand you know you're safe and clean.

  2. You could try and find a student apartment, maybe it's far from your working place but not that expensive. Isn't there any cultural exchange program you could find...?! I guess there must be a way to be hosted in an Italian family.

  3. it depends on your skills...and how much you can speak italian as well

  4. The best site is www.portaportese.it (no english version). If you speak a little italian, you can look here for a job and appartment with other students/workers. Sharing a flat is the cheapest thing you can get, and also a great way to know people and better understand the country. As for jobs, teaching english is probably the best thing (both private lessons and schools), but you can also work in a restaurant or bar, there are so many of them and they're always looking for english-speaking people.

  5. You can give same English lessons even if you don't speak Italian or look after animals when the owners are on holiday.

  6. why do i have to be italian to answer this?
