Does anyone know what I could get over the counter for a possible yeast infection? I am feeling the beginning symptoms and need to know what I can get. I heard of something that helps that makes your urine orange, but am unsure what it is called? Your help is appreciated, thanks :)

You've already had a very good answer by Valerie, but if I can just add something - eat lots of Yogurt and take pro-biotics as well so that you can get over it sooner.

Canesten pessaries are a good product which will clear up your infection in no time.

I know that you can get an oral prescription from your Dr. You might want to look into that. However, they might want to do a pelvic exam. That might not be too comfortable at this stage in the game.

Monistat - 1 in the U.S.  GyneCure in Canada.  Also, the medication that causes urine to turn a dark orange is called Pyridium and is prescribed along with antibiotics for urinary tract infections to relieve painful urination.  If you have tenderness in your lower back or abdomen or have a fever it is important that you see a health care provider because you may have bladder / kidney infections that you cannot treat over-the-counter.

The medication that turns you urine orange (phenazopyridine, aka AZO, Cystex, Uristat) is for bladder infections, not yeast infections, and even then, it does absolutely nothing to heal the bladder infection and can actually mask it leading to a kidney infection which requires hospitalization or else you die. If you have a bladder infection it will burn when you pee and will feel like you constantly have to urinate. If this is the case, you must see a doctor immediately before the infection spreads to your kidneys.

A yeast infection is characterized by a heavy discharge that looks like cottage cheese and smells funny. If it is yellow or green it is a more serious STD such as gonorrhea or chlamydia. If you are not completely sure what you have, you need to see a doctor. If you allow an STD to go untreated you can become permanently sterile.

Yeast infections can be spread through sexual contact or you can get them from taking antibiotics which kill off the normal healthy bacteria in your v****a. Douching also causes yeast infections for the same reason antibiotics do. Your body cleans itself and you do not need to douche -- ever.

There are several over the counter medications for yeast infections, but I seriously recommend you see a doctor because you could misdiagnose yourself and end up with a serious or life threatening infection.

For the record, if you are on antibiotics it is important to eat at least one yogurt a day. If you can buy acidophilus supplements at your local health food store, all the better. You can actually use plain yogurt, placed inside, to kill a yeast infection and it works almost immediately -- better than Monostat -- though it sounds gross. The organisms in yogurt are what keep the yeast organisms in check. Do not use any other kind of yogurt than plain. VERY IMPORTANT!

The Urine medicine is for urinary tract infections.  you can use monistat over the counter, but you should try the new test that tells you which kind of infection you have first.  If you treat for something you don't have you will only make matters worse.  Try the vagisil screening kit.

umm if it's turning your urine orange thats for urinary trait infections not yeast infections.

Just go to the drug store lot of different types, by the pads and such.
