I'm in the market for a new car. I need something throaty, with a lot of horses. Something that has great performance and suspension that will last. I've heard pretty much all good things about the legendary mustang. Great lasting engine, fine tuned suspension in the new models, and of course hefty performance. Although my price range isn't quite gonna suffice for a Shelby, I know the 06' and up V6's with the new body is easy to find with great deals. So is this a good car compared to say, 06' and up Hyundai Tiburon for instance?

  1. The 05+ Mustangs are great they are overall better car than previous generations. The 4.0 V6 is great power plant in 5spd compared to the old 3.8. Of course the performance is in the 4.6 V8. I would definitely buy the V8 5spd.  If the Mustang isn't up to your liking after a test drive consider the 350Z or the new up coming Hyundai Genesis Coupe which will be interesting because it is RWD and will come with either V6 or 4cyl Turbo. Also consider a Mazda RX8 maybe even the very cool Mazda-speed 3 2.3L turbo 263hp. i have personally driven each of these cars (except the Hyundai) they are all great cars.

  2. They ride very nicely. They're a bulletproof car with a ton of history. Rear wheel drive could be a issue if you live in the snowbelt. Go for the GT if you can swing it. Lots of after market parts available for the modular V8's

  3. I have driven a few GTs, and I was impressed with the improvement over the previous generations. The ride and handling is not only better then previous Mustangs, but it's also better than the last Camaros and Firebirds. The V6 models are supposedly tuned for a more compliant ride, but since i have yet to drive one I can't fully comment. The interior is nice on the Mustangs, and they look good too. My cousin drives a Tiburon, and she likes it enough, I wasn't too impressed with it though.

  4. Sounds like the car you really want is the Nissan 350Z, its 3.5 liter V6 has the power of the Mustang V8 without the extra weight and for about the same price too.  The Nissan 350Z comes in several versions with various suspension setups, but in general will handle better then the Mustang.  As for the Tiburon, Hyundai is phasing that model out to be replaced by....the Genesis coupe that will compete with the Mustang and 350Z, something the Tiburon was never intended to do.  The Genesis coupe is RWD and due out late 2008/early 2009 with 2 engine options (215HP turbo I4 and 300HP 3.8L V6) and will be priced along the same lines as the 2 above cars.  If you don't mind a hatchback, the Mazdaspeed 3 is one awesome car, turbo I4 with 260HP for under $22K with a nice exhaust note and suspension.
