I have an appt for an oral board interview. What can I expect? I have already passed the written and physical test but I'm a little nervous about the oral board. I just want to know what I should expect and what kinds of things that they ask you.

  1. .   They are so desperately short of officers that you just need to walk in with your head held high and speak in  a loud clear voice.  You are going to like your new job and the people you work with.

  2. I would expect it to be something like this.

Why do you want to do this job?

Why do you want to work for this particular agency?

    Why should we hire you?

How you have prepared yourself for a career in corrections?

What is an example of a high stress situation that you have dealt with, and how did you deal with it?

They'll ask you situational questions about ethics, diversity, and conflict resolution. They will probably also be writing as you answer, don't let that rattle you.

Be confident, clear, and concise with your answers. Look at the oral board members as you answer, try to keep hand gestures to a minimum. And as in any interview, sell yourself the best you can. Here is a link to a pretty thorough guide for the LE application process.
