  1. You work everyday and the hours vary depending on your job I worked as a j*p-Junior Assistant Purser you need to enquire about wages as it varies from company to company.

The rooms are OK usually bunks. Normally you get to select your own self service food so being a vegetarian should not be a problem.

Your uniform will be supplied and laundered free for you.

  2. Indeed it is hard work. Accommodations are alright (depending on the age of the ship as well). You can expect to share a cabin with 1-5 other staff depending on your position. Basically the higher your position the less people in your cabin.

Depending on your position you'll eat in the crew mess or the officer's mess or even with the passengers in the dining room(s). Vegetarians will find something to eat as well as there is enough to choose from during the meals.

Good jobs on board are casino staff (only work when the ship is in international waters and the casino is never opened while in port leaving you lots of time to go out, and photographer.

  3. Yes! It's the hardest job that you can ever think of...But the pay is good though it's really hard work... We all have different chefs that caters to each different nationality crews on board and we have international messes that you can have a choice of the food that you want to eat...if your vegetarian, it's no problem as you can mix or make your own food on the wide varieties and selections that the ship have...I work in Hotel department of an international passenger cruise ship almost half of my life as in 17years.., and I must LIKE the job...
