  1. Absolutely not... if they do it on their own is a different story.

  2. I am not going to allow them to do it, but I do expect that at some point they may try both. The only thing I can do as a parent is tell them the cons of smoking, be open about talking to them about it whenever they have questions and monitor their activities the best I can.

  3. No

  4. Nope.  If my children were, and I found out about it, there would be "consequences and repercussions!"

If my children are over 18 and living on their own, there isn't much I can do about it at that point.

  5. my kids had better not do either, it will just mess you up in the long run. weed is illegal. drinking just ultimately gets people in trouble. cigarettes kill you faster.. personally i'd just as soon my kids stay away from it all, it would kill me to watch them hurt themselves this way.

  6. I did so I can't be a hypocrite, I'm 19 now and stop being friends with the friend I used to smoke with so I kinda had to quit by default but as long as you continue to have expectations as far as grades and sports they may be involved in and set limits they shouldn't get hooked, unless you notice that as a pre-teen they have an "addictive personality" then disregard all that because they could get hooked, I've always been able to take things or leave them so I just do without

  7. i wouldnt let my kids be in the inviorment so they wouldnt be exposed to thta stuff and want to do it  but i would let them try it at a resonable age like 14-16 so they can see how bad it is  and dinks they can do all of thee above when they move out  around 21 and 16 or 18 wich evers best for them i wouldnt let my girl move out the boy we can concitor at the age of 16

  8. Nooo.

That is by far the trashiest thing a parent can do.

  9. No I wouldn't let them smoke weed or smoke cigarettes as both are very bad for there health. As for drinking I doubt I would because it's illegal but it's the only one I could even consider. I think it may help kids who are allowed to try it not to become alcholics as it won't be such a big deal when they turn 21.

  10. not smoking but when she gets to about 16 she can drink with her friend as long as there at my house with my supervision thats what my parents did with me my sister and brother and we have never tried smoking anything my half brother lived with his mother and he is an alcoholic and has had his 3 children taken away from him

  11. Absolutely not.  I never did and see no reason for it.  Nothing good can come from these activities so why would you want your kids doing that?

  12. of course i would not "LET THEM".  i would give them information to make their own choices and mistakes.  this is how we learn.

  13. No, Me and my brother have grown up around it alot..i am only 15 and my brother is 13. It had a bad influence on us because my brother was friends with these kids who did do all of that stuff you were mentioning and we ended up moving because of it and we are still around it alot

  14. Honestly, be my guest once youre out of my house till then, not IN my house...Theres nothing you can really do to stop them Id prefer them NOT to, but what can you do...Tie them down?

I find it amuseing that people find it horrible that weed is illegal, and thats the only point they can make towards it,  alchohol, is JUST as bad if not worse.

  15. Let them ?  Once they move out I can't stop them . I was a drug abuser and alcohol abuser who became a drug counselor . I've been straight and sober since 1972 .  If I didn't get through to my son , then shame on me.

I've taught all I can the rest is up to my son.

  16. No. Simply because I care about my kids and those things are detrimental to anyone's health. Except the drinking, if it's in minimal amounts that's not terrible for your health. But they have to be 21 to drink legally and hopefully they'll be moved out by then. haha. I wouldn't let them drink underaged because that teaches them that authority (the law) means nothing and then how would they respect my authority?

  17. Absolutely not!

One is illegal for anyone, the other two are illegal for minors and all three are very dangerous to ones health.

My children are/will be educated about the consequences of using such substances.  Prayerfully, that will mean they abstain but if they do use, it will not be because I "let" them.

  18. No, I will not let them smoke weed or cigarettes, or drinking to get drunk.  But drinking wine with dinner is different, but that is how I have been raised.

  19. Not a chance.

  20. why would I allow my child to risk their health, or do something illegal? NO. Yes, its hypocritical, but I don't care.

  21. No on smoking weed.  It makes you dumber and lazier, and what parent wants THAT for their child?   It has been shown to permanently alter brain activity, even after the smoker quits taking the drug.   Let's call that what it is -- brain damage.   It can trigger severe mental illness like depression, anxiety disorder or even schizophrenia, which is horribly debilitating.   We have one relative who may have been schizophrenic (she basically became homeless and eventually disappeared) and one who was definitely bipolar, so they would be at greater risk.

No on the drinking until it is legal, in which case they won't be kids anymore.  Please note this is a legal issue as much as an ethical or moral one.  If a parent gets caught KNOWINGLY allowing their minor children to drink alcohol, they can be prosecuted, and their guardianship of their children can be put at risk.  There is an alcoholic in their extended family, so they have seen the disaster that can make of a life.  That helps.

No on the cigarettes.  I took a leave of absence for a couple months and lived with my father while he slowly died of lung cancer at age 62.   Very educational in a miserable sort of a way.  He barely got to enjoy retirement, and would not have had it at all if he had not retired early.  My kids will not smoke if I can help it.

  22. no i dont want my kids to slowly kill them selves

  23. of course not! anything that's bad  for my kids is absolutely not possible.

  24. Hopefully you raise your children to make responsible decsions and sometimes they do experiment.  Both my sons have smoked pot and drink.  One is now 25 and the other is 19.  My older son got busted for possession when he was a minor and was not allowed to get a driver's licenses for 12 months after his court date.  It did not go on his record.

  25. No, I am 16 and my parents raised me so right that I have no interest in trying to smoke weed, smoke cigarettes, or drink.  Why would you do it?  It's pointless, what do you get out of it?  A screwed up life livin on the street while you beg for food and more money and you do everything you can to get more of it.  No, even when I am a parent, If my kids even try it, they'd get knocked around so hard they wouldn't want to try it again.

  26. No, I wouldn't. Marijuana is illegal, they can smoke when they can legally buy cigarettes at 18, and can drink when they move out of my home.
