Question for amtrak train users updated.....please help!?

ok, im leaving tomorrow for 5 days, and i was just curious how does the process work. i dont have my ticket so am i supposed to print my itinerary and take it to a ticket booth at the station and they give me it or what?

ALSO, how do i know where to board at, usually their are multiple cars, and do they announce on the train when ur stop is approaching?

also id like to add that i have no extra bags, just 1 carry on and a purse, also i didnt buy the ticket, i was just emailed a conformation itinerary and the person lives 3 hours away. will they have my ticket at the station?

Go to the ticket booth and give them your confirmation #, they will then print your tickets.

They will make an announcement when its time to board. They look at your tickets, and direct you where to board.

They make stop announcements during the day, however at night its pretty much your responsibility to keep track. There are schedules on board as to the scheduled stops. If you are in a sleeping car, your attendant will make sure you get off at the right stop.
