1. the reason you are most likely popping it is because you are not snapping in your jump. meaning when you jump you have to snap you hips into place and hold for the full rotation. you then have to remember to jump straight up. when you kick your leg dont swing out your leg out kick straight.

  2. Don't rush the jump. Do a lot of waltz jumps and stuff at a faster speed to get the feel. Also, don't suddenly go into your axel with a lot more speed than you are used to. Gradually increase your speed.

  3. well there's two solutions, stop going so fast. slow down until you get the technique of the axel right. and if you're trying to go faster with your axel remember that the faster you go, the harder you have to jump UP. that's important because as you go faster you already have your left and right movement speed from your crossovers, so you have to jump up. you jump out when you're going slower to compensate for the lack of speed or left and right movement. the solution is to slowly adjust your speed don't try to go from slow to super fast at once, make the change gradual. as you get better with your axel your confidence will grow trust me there's nothing better than landing like a million axels in a row lol

  4. dnt tel yourself tht your popping it or tht you lost it, also if you wanna go faster put on some dance music while your skating it wil help

  5. Try not to overthink it...if you have it at a slower speed, then you are obviously doing everything right, you're just psyching yourself out when you do go faster. Practice it A LOT at a comfortable speed to gain confidence and as hard as it may be DON'T overthink it. I had the same problem with mine, and it really helped. If it's really bad, talk with your coach because there might be something else you're doing wrong from nervousness.

    :)

  6. go into it without any fright at all, your knail it then =] if you say "its just a jump, i've done it before" you'll get it =]

  7. you could get the pads for the sides and back of your legs and bum. that way you may not feel so scared of falling down real hard. i landed my axel by doing backwards cross cuts real fast and then steping forward doing outside edge, outside edge and on this outside edge go all the way to the toe and pull in real fast.

  8. I'm landing my double Axel right now. start from a spread eagle ( out side edge ) and really bend your knees and when your about to go into it. kinda crouch down low to make it higher and for you to have more time to do 1 1/2 revolutions. my advice is to practice a lot, use the harness, spend more time with your coach, and to watch figure skaters ( Michelle Kwan, Kristi Yamaguchi, and Sasha Cohen ) preform there Axel on you tube
