If i told you feminism was a form of OCD, would you believe that? I am not an antifeminist, but I have a friend who i went to college wih before getting my P.h.D in psychology, he stayed behind to work on his, and he just recently told me about a study going on there to prove that feminism is a form of OCD. What is your take? I can see it, being a psychologist, but isn't that too degrating? Is it worth the time and effort?

  1. lol...thats good for a laugh.

Tell him to read the...or at least look at it DSM-IV-TR (2000)

  2. I don't know about it being OCD, but I really theres something wrong with any person who has to become "part" of something bigger than them to feel like they have a person. People who have to be labeled as some thing to feel like they belong. Whether it be environmentalists, Repubs/Dems, feminists, etc. I don't think this type of behavior fosters people to think and reason without their "causes" ideology corrupting the thinking process.

  3. I will simplify the matter for you; I only believe in natural equality; meaning I could care less about equal pay and all of that rot.  Feminism as it is in this day and age and from ages past does not thrill me in the slightest.

  4. I have read some strange things on Yahoo answers but I have to tell you, your posting is just one of the strangest.

    (1)  In your vast study of psychology or psychiatry, I'm simply shocked that you were not required to study the DSM at great length.  I understand the argument that you are making regarding obsession HOWEVER a quintessential criteria to developing the diagnostic impression of an OCD is INTRUSIVE or experiencing some other type of distress.  The severity of an OCD can vary but again it must be causing the individual some type of disfunction or distress.  Feminists take on this identity by choice, there is no mechanism in place to cause the distress, as in a cult-like-structure that you describe.

    (2)  I'm confused as to why you needed to lie about your credentials when posting this question?  "I'm a psychiatrist studying psychology"  That actually makes no sense.  Why would you be a psychiatrist getting your PhD in psych?  I've worked in the mental health field for a bit now and there is no psychiatrist that would ever call themselves a psychologist in any context, and for that matter no psychiatrist would ever use "OMG"  You also exert your title or position of power several times throughout your statements, which also makes it seem you are lying.  I'm a mental health therapist but you did not see me putting that in every other sentence.

  5. OCD? uhm so feminists wash thier hands alot?

OMG Tracey you are!? such an honor to meet you!

  6. Yeah, Hitler tried to convince the world that Jews were mentally ill, too.  That's just grunting from the monkies in the peanut gallery, the same ones who whine about a woman's "place" should be in the home and dependent upon a man at the same time they call women "gold-diggers" for seeking a man to be dependent upon who is capable of paying the bills, or, it's a woman's "job" to raise children but they get their male-entitlement knickers in a knot everytime a judge gives custody of the children to a woman in a divorce, and illogical stuff like that.  Feminists are their spooky "bogeyman" to vilify in many monkey ways.  lol.

  7. Well, if it is then I definitely haven't got it.  My worst enemy could never accuse me of being obsessed with perfection.

  8. You know, I think you just made that up.  OCD involves repetitive meaningless rituals that interfere with everyday activities, such as repeated hand-washing, rearranging of personal items, the need to touch objects a certain number of times, etc.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with personal ideologies.

    Oh, and it's spelled "degrading".

Edit: If you were a psychiatrist, you'd be an MD, not a PhD.  Try researching your falsehoods before you tell them.

Religious delusions are symptomatic of schizophrenia, not OCD.

Edit: Were you aware that practicing medicine without a license is a federal crime?  That includes the internet.

  9. That's degrading. Feminism is about equality for both men and women. It's the strong notion that women are people of equal quality and deserve to be treated as so. Women have been oppressed and still are (esp. in Middle East, Africa, China, India, poor countries, and even the US) and so feminists of course fight more for women's rights, but as long as not a "feminazi", still care very much for men's rights. They just want equality, but are often misunderstood because of the radicals. It's not a form of OCD (or whatever people will stew up next) but a movement growing across the world. Deciding to be a feminist is honoring those who bravely fought before you for the rights women enjoy today!

  10. Are you getting your P.h.D. in literature?

    Cheers :-)

  11. You don't practice anything but idiocy.     You can't even spell.  You don't even have a GED thats for sure.

  12. I'm sure there is at least one feminist that is OCD. I'm definitely obsessive but hate cleanliness-can't see me washing my hands compulsively.

I'm sure there is at least one anti-feminist that is OCD-I think we just had one post a question here recently..but I highly doubt they have a PhD..but they certainly have a lot of BS.

  13. They've tried this before with feminist attitudes and it didn't work. They should just accept that feminism is an ideology like any other. It is not, and has never been, fundamentally detrimental.

  14. You're a psychiatrist. Ri-ight. And I'm the Secretary of Defense.

  15. Your definition of OCD leaves a lot to be desired - as mentioned by many other ppl here.

One more thing - You're BOTH a psychiatrist and psychologist? You've been busy!

  16. Feminism is as much a form of OCD as civil rights activism is.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (though it has many, many factors) revolves around two things:

    1) Compulsive thoughts

    2) Obsessive and compulsive behavior

Compulsive thoughts are unrelenting and usually unwanted thoughts and feelings, such as imagining your chemistry teacher and your history teacher having kinky s*x in the janitor's closet and not being able to stop thinking about it. I don't see how it could be proven that all feminists have unrelenting thoughts of this sort.

Compulsive behavior is characterized by counting, or by "not being able" to move or act unless something is "just so." Someone with compulsive behavior might always have to step on sidewalk cracks when walking, or might, if the clock reads 10:12, ALWAYS wait for it to turn to 10:13. Things like that. This doesn't necessarily tie in with feminism either.

  17. They certainly obsess :p

The real question is do ocd women find feminism or does feminism cause ocd ? I guess you could say devote religious people have ocd as well.

I would know feminists have ocd, if a study showed they do.

  18. I would not believe it in the slightest. Any 'study' that tries to blindly judge a whole group as the same is meaningless to me.

And why is your question aimed at anti-feminists, since you would only get one kind of answer from them?

I wonder if your friend has ever actually even met a feminist, or is the study based on the usual nonsensical assumptions.

Yes, I find it degrading. As for whether it is worth the time and effort, your friend claims he is going to 'prove' this fact - it seems that his mind is already made up before he has began. Why even bother with the experiment.

  19. Feminism is a mental and social disease.
