  1. oo no no no no no!!!!!!!!!!! never ever use play sand for anykind of animal the reason they sell speacial reptile brands is because it isnt like playsand,,,playsand would absorbe stomach acid if ingestted buy the reptile sand yea..itll cost more..but you will have a cleaner and healthier bd!1:] + calisand or bone aid are the bestest sands!!!and they come in kick *** colors

  2. you can use play sand but it can cause impaction

there is a sand it is called vita-sand and if the bearded dragon

accidentally swallows it wont hurt it because its made from vitamins or something

and if you go with play sand you'll probably want to feed it in a separate container so it wont get impacted and make sure none gets in the water

here is a link to vita-sand

  3. You don't use sand for bearded dragons.

It does something (forgot the word D:) but can be fatal.

  4. well wen i had my bearded dragon i cuaght it on som1s roof and it lived in sand but not 4 long and i seen 1 in the wild on sand but i would probly use sand from the wild and it didnt die i let it go

  5. People don't usually suggest sand at all because if eaten it can cause impactions. Repti-sand, as the other answerer suggested, is better than most because it is designed for specifically for reptiles. Feeding your beardie outside of the tank lessens the chance of any sand being swallowed.

I wouldn't use anything unless I was certain that it had no adverse effects.

  6. Reptisand works well

I never even thought of using play sand

  7. Do you work with vets and rehab impacted BD's?  Do you have a couple of college years of medicine behind you?  I do.  I had to opt out, and pay bills.  But, maybe next year I'll resume and get the lil deploma which "make me a vet"!

I DO work with this daily.  And I'm tired of this, too.  It's SO uncalled for, and so hard to have an animal die in your hands.

It does me no good, apparently, to type over and over, "Don't DO that."

Sand is bad.  That's all I can say.  You will fish for enough answers to suit what you want to hear/read, unless you really care.

    Check out this site:

http://hubpages.com/hub/Impaction  one picture is worth a thousand words.

Be a good owner.  Keep your BD on textured tile.  This is available in assorted colors and textures (do not use smooth/gloss), helps trim nails, conducts heat well, is affordable, and easy to clean.

Enjoy your BD, and I hope this has been of help.
