Some of my friends have suggested hosting a software conference here in Minneapolis Minnesota!!

This is all hypothetical, but what could I call it and what kind of things would be good to have there (key note, breakout sessions, topics, foods, etc..)

Thanks!

  1. That sounds pretty interesting, contrary to everyone else's sarcastic pointless comments. I wouldn't know about what to call it but you could maybe have some topics about certain types of software and prices. Like, "Photo shop? Best specs for the best price."

Food I would suggest small bottles with s***w on lids and small finger foods that don't cause to much mess, maybe small sandwiches.

  2. SoftCore (p**n lol),

    ConferWare

    TalkSoft

Go for sandwiches, mini rolls, quiche and stuff like that, not too formal but not too casual. Drink go from just water, lemonade to (dependant on the age of people) a COUPLE of bottles of wine, don't want them getting drunk, but enjoying themselves.

Topics can be literally anything. Really depends on what kind of software you are talking about.

Try some mellow music in the background too, Like 'Eels', 'Josh Radin', or  'Counting Crows'.

Just ideas. Take them or leave them =p

  3. The name has to be Minnesoft.

  4. Well, first you need a theme, a reason why people and companies involved in software would want to participate.  A current platform, emerging technology, or business model might be a place to start.  Go with your own experience, but give your conference some kind of focus within "software" and it will be a lot easier to make decisions about speakers, events, sponsors, activities, and even locations.

You'll want a keynote speech (20-60 minutes) by a respected industry leader or someone involved with the focus of your convention.  You'll want a full day's worth of speakers behind her on various topics, they should be interesting but don't have to be VIPs.

Selling booth space and finding sponsors/advertisers is the real logistical hurdle, this will take several months unless you have a GREAT rolodex and a lot of friends.

You should probably contract out the food to vendors for an event of any size, otherwise you are in for some headaches.  If this is a smaller scale church-basement thing, just order a lot of pizzas.  (In ADVANCE please!)

  5. sry bro cant help u on that one

  6. soft wear ?like in silk shirts or pajamies?

  7. Photoshop Comps.

  8. I dont know about name but a cool theme: Breakfast club

Food: ham and cheese and cheetos

  9. this may be random but Soft Talk or something approachable like that would catch my eye.

  10. sounds boring

  11. huh?

  12. Dude why? Sounds  boring. Sorry but it does. Can you think of just having a party! Like a FUN party?
