Lots of math and lots of science for me, mixed with adequate common sense and practicability.

One definition of an engineer is "a person who uses scientific knowledge to solve practical problems". Math is a science which is called for when required.

Lot of engineering is science, especially figuring out what demands which will be placed upon "system", as is testing of a design to make sure it does the job.

Maths is used to figure out how the components of a design interact

In all but the simplest designs, the choice of how to arrange things is more an ART, than science or maths.

(studied mech eng at uni, but now a carer for my disabled partner, with engineering/"invention" relegated to a hobby that takes place in my shed!)

I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

At the start of my career they had me doing quality inspections and paperwork which did not really include much maths at all besides arithmetic. I then spent 3 years draughting with AutoCAD and still there was not allot of maths.

I am however now working as a Senior Design Engineer for a road tanker company and have to calculate the material thickness for various pressure vessels so finally i am actually applying science and mathematics!

is all Cain s of engineers,all have technical skills and not depended much an mathematics,  trigonometry is the one that they yous AND common seances.and material strength and durability mathematics are limited but necessary everything you see to day around you is a technical engineering, i have Ben their and i know. but it tack a techniciann to verified the work, if can be don or not.a technician is the skillful and all engineers depend on ,to finish a project. the engineer always say to a technicia to  improved FOR THE EDGINESS MISTAKES.
