Question for experienced bird owners about how birds sleep.

When parakeets are in an environment they enjoy do they sleep with just one foot on the perch and the other curled up into their body. or with both feet on the perch?

  1. it doesn't realy matter which enviorment they sleep in they sleep on one foot while the other is tucked in their feathers


  2. Usually a healthy bird will sleep on 1 foot, as with all birds. But sleeping on both feet is not unseen either.  

  3. Different parakeets sleep different ways. Some sleep on one foot, some sleep on two. I have some parakeets myself.

  4. I've seen both positions before, it just depends on which position the bird feels more comfortable in when sleeping!

  5. Both ways-- just as some of us lie flat and others curl in the fetal position, birds vary their positions for sleeping--the only thing they do not do is lie on the bottom of the cage!
