Question for girls/ladies- Would you take this as a complement??

Your almost 24 years of age, but when people ask you how old you are..they don't believe your that old..usually their responses is "You look younger!!"

I dress according to my age and ive always acted mature..yet lately ive been getting this from a lot of strangers.

Would you take this as a complement or as a negative comment??

Yeah, yeah, I know that when you're older you'll want people to think you look younger, but you're not older yet.

When they say it, they probably mean well, so just smile and say thank you. Unless they say it in a stupid way.

When I was about your age, a friend of my grandmother's said I was "a big girl!" If it comes out like that, youdon't have to take it as a compliment. (Maybe I shouldn't have glared at the lady and snapped, "I am not a girl, I am [however old I was] and an adult!" but I am blunt. Sue me. And that wasn't a compliment the way she said it.)

Sweety, I am 66 and I guarantee you I would be flattered if someone said I looked only 65.  Be grateful for small blessings, dear.

I'm 23 and I definitely take it as a compliment. I have met many women our age who look like they are in their mid-30's. I am very happy with looking younger than my age because that is indicative of aging well.

A compliment.  Trust me when you are 40 you'll wish people told you that!

I always had the exact same situation.  I just smile and say, Good! Then when I'm 40 I'll look 30.

Then I make fun out of it and tell them that I always wanted to look as young as my mom does when I'm her age--until she confided in me that she had a face lift 3 years ago.  We all get a laugh out of it.

It is meant as a compliment. they say you ''look'' younger.. it would not be a compliment if they said ''you seem younger'' that could mean you act like a teenager'' but they say  you look younger that means just that..  you look like 20 perhaps but you act maturely. so it's a compliment.. but it would be more of a compliment if you were 40 and they said.. wow.. you look like 32.. LOL x*x

Look at it this way: would you rather have them say you look older for your age or younger?

Trust me when you get older you'll be thankful for those comments.

Looking young is what most people seem to want these days and apparently you've got that.

i know you said girls but how does it make you feel? if it makes you feel good about yourself that you look younger than you are then its a compliment i am 38 and someone said to me the other day you look 20 naturally i laughed as it was a 10 year old but if someone nearer my age said it i would feel over the moon

I have the same problem! I try to take it as a compliment, it just means that you age well.
