Question for homeschooling moms, from a teen.?

I was homeschooled until fourth grade along with two of my sisters and my brother. Then I have three other sisters, the youngest, who were never homeschooled. I'm now 16 and going to be a junior in high school so obviously I won't be thinking about having children for awhile, but I still wanted to ask:

How do you all go about homeschooling? What I mean is how did you begin homeschooling and is there any requirements you must have?

About how long do you have to homeschool your children each day?

Can you do the opposite of what schools do? What I mean is could you teach your children during night and then have them do homework during that day?

These all probably sound like silly questions, but someday I want to homeschool my kids. The reason I asked the last question is because even though I want to homeschool my children I want to become a metabolic dietitian someday and for that I would most likely work until probably 4pm each day. Honey is live vitamins and is good for you. Homeschooling is another ideas based on my experience. I went to school for the purpose of integrating to society and homeschooling at the same time to learn the religious aspects of our life. At 16 years old , you are just learning like anyone else and having patience in adapting or improvising your home and yourself may help you organise and reach satisfaction.

I got started by learning about the laws where I live. You could do that now, but the laws may very well change by the time you reach that point. :) Where I live, any parent can homeschool. We have to register, file an education plan and meet with a teacher twice a year. The teacher basically just writes down what we've done, makes sure families are actually DOING something, and a small report goes into the kids' cumulative file.

For grades 1-6, you can easily accomplish school work within a 3-hour time period. And yes, you could do work with them in the evenings. Of course, that would mean that you would have to have someone else care for your kids, which kind of takes away from the homeschooling experience--so do it yourself, if you can. I bet you could set up some sort of part-time business through your home or do some sort of dietetic consulting from home. If you can't, then yes, you could set things up to do school work with them at home or even have them do some during the day with whomever is taking care of them and a bit at night with you.

You sound like a very mature young lady.My son attended public school  K- 5.He has severe health problems that we felt the decision to home school was best for us.We school 3-4 hours a day.Basically you school around your family's schedule.So if it is better for you to school at night go for it!!  

Lastly,there are no silly questions if you are seeking knowledge.

I'm impressed.  I am impressed by your planning for the future and how well you write.  

Question 1: Go to HSLDA website and find out laws for your state.

Question 2: I studied homeschooling from the time my son was in 3rd grade until he was in first of 8th grade.  My husband drove a school bus for 2 weeks and came home and told me it was time to home school.  I put the intent form into the mail the next day. The notice of intent is a requirement of our state.   My husband's reason was bad behavior and disrespect he saw in other students.  My reason was because our son was not learning in school.

Question 3: Our state requires high school diploma or GED for the parent.

Question 4:  2 to 6 hours a day.  It all depends.  I work outside the home with untypical schedule.  

Question 5:  Yes.  When he was in public school, I was  spending 4-6 hours a day helping him with his homework after school.  This was not the best time for me, but if a person has the energy, it would work.   I am a morning person, and we try to get the instructional part of day over by 11:00 AM.  He  can do assignments anytime during the day or night.

you are way to young to be asking about that. how about you worry about the boy/girl you like, or, say, college.
