Question:

Question for hysterectomy ladies?

by  |  earlier

I have to have it done for menometrorrhagia and intramural fibroids.

I figure I have to feel better, compared to right now. But my friends say I will feel great, wondered if its true for everyone - and will my s*x drive return?

Thanks ahead of time for sharing.

  1. I had a hysterectomy when I was 26 (now I'm 41). Some things you need to be prepared for ....

I gained 25 lbs after the surgery in about a year .... it has never fully recovered - despite my exercising 4-6 days a week at an hour a day. The metabolism changes greatly ... and for many women, it never returns to what it was before.

This is NOT to say you will have that problem. But talk to LOTS of people who have had it and you will have to probably cut back on calories and really watch your weight ... especially if you are on drugs after the surgery.

The immediate lack of activity will cause you to gain weight ... then combine it with the drugs, which slow your body down (thus slows your metabolism)... and then the hormonal changes ... further eroding your metabolism.

I dropped weight at first right after the surgery cause I wasn't hungry .. but then the rest is history .

Also, be prepared for phantom pain .. you think the pain is there but it really isn't - it WILL go away.

Now for the GREAT news ... give it ONE year and you will feel better than you ever have.

I had extreme pain pre-hysterectomy and had it for years (14 different medications between ages 13 - 26 years old). I am so happy now I could dance down the tampax aisle.

The weight gain while a little troubling, is far outweighed by my enjoyment and quality of life. I have steadied at 140 lbs respectively versus the 125 lbs I used to be ... i'll take the compromise!

go for it and enjoy your life sweetie - you're worth it!

  2. Good luck!

Yes, it is true that you will feel better.

Once you start feeling better, you will be more interested in s*x.

    And, in everything else, too!

I finally cleaned my oven.  Not as much fun as s*x, but what the he**.

  3. I had my hysterectomy last year.  I am SOOO glad I had it done.  My s*x drive was low before the hysterectomy, now my drive is great.  I had many large fibroids.  I looked like I was in my fifth month of pregnancy, bled heavily, strong menstrual cramps and even break through bleeding.  I don't miss it at all and I wish I would have done it a long time ago.

I HIGHLY recommend you check out www.hystersisters.com. They helped me EXTREMELY with my questions and advice on hysterectomies. It's a support group and it's FREE.

I wish I'd found the site before I had mine. A lot of my questions and concerns would have been answered with just looking at the responses on this website. But I stumbled on the site a few days after my hysterectomy and learned of various things I should do before the surgery, things I'm entitled to at the hospital (which the hospital doesn't tell you), questions to ask the doctor, etc. It's an awesome site for women.

I hope it helps you, it has helped me and my family and friends.

  4. The first thing you need to do is figure out why your s*x drive is low and try to help get it back.  I was in your situation and it's not fun without being horny and feeling in the mood when needed.  I also felt like my orgasms (if I would even get one) were really weak.  Probably because of my s*x drive.

However, I tried exercising and dieting but nothing seemed to be working.  I thought I was screwed.  I then found something just as amazing as the vibrator.

My friend at work told me about this stuff she took to raise her s*x drive.  It was a natural herbal supplement and was I lucky to of found it.  Theres no side effects and the s*x drive is just tremendous along with orgasms that are blasting.  The stuff is called Hersolution pills.  At the time I saved money on them at herenhancement.com

What I did was tried out for 3 months and that was really it.  I found taking them every other day or so was the best to stretch it out. After the months were up, I was back to normal with a beating s*x drive and my o****m strength in increased so much.

Well good luck and I hope this helps.
