Question for moms on my sons first tooth...?

My son will be 15 weeks old this Friday. He had a hard white spot on his gum and it seemed to hurt him quite a bit so I took him to the pediatrician yesterday and he told me it was his tooth breaking through the gum. This is my first child but I thought teeth came in much later than this. Also this is not a middle bottom tooth but one that is next to the middle one which my Dr. said is unusual but not unheard of for a first tooth. My question is when did your child get his or her first tooth? and which tooth came in first?

  1. Most babies get their first teeth before a year old actually. My child got his I bleive at 10 months. Its actually better for their teeth to come in later so its all good.

  2. Both of my kids were late on getting their first tooth. My daughter was about 7 months old and my sone was 10 months before he got any.

My daughters all came in really fast after that but my son is a year and just (yesterday) cut his 3rd tooth. Every baby is different. I've known people whose baby came out at birth with teeth.

You shouldnt worry....its just hard to keep them happy when their gums hurt so bad!

  3. The first tooth usually comes in around 6 months of age, but every baby is different.  It may look like the one next to the middle (lateral incisor), but it could still be the middle one (central incisor).  Babies are supposed to have gaps between their teeth.  There's no reason to worry at this point.

Maybe this wil answer some questions...

  4. It is a little early for your son to be getting his first tooth, but really no big deal.  Just think, some babies are born with a couple.  My daughter was 5 months old when she got her first teeth.  The bottom center two came thru the same day.  He'll probably get his other teeth early also, and even out in no time.

  5. my daughter was 16 weeks and she got 2 all at once.  Good luck with that, once they start coming they all come. Its a very trying process for you both but stay patient. just remember your child is in a lot of pain.

P.S. don't rule out whiskey on the gums. its sounds really bad but if you only use a little it works better than anything you can buy in a store trust me

  6. My daughter got her tooth around the same age. Hers was the middle bottom however and the rest followed within the next few weeks. She had 10 teeth by 8 months, but my neice on the otherhand didn't get her first until around 10 months.

  7. My son got his first tooth christmas eve, when he was six months old.   Also, I think it was one of the bottom teeth.  One of the middles.  I remember him having the two middle on top and two middle on bottom, so it had to be one of the middle ones.  If your baby has been fussy and calms when you give him something cool to chew on, (not cool as in awsome, but as in temp. ) and it feels like a hard bump and not a squishy bump than it probably is a tooth.  I wouldn't worry too much, and try these things called teething tablets, they are all natural and worked pretty good for my son and for friends kids.  I have heard all kinds of parents rave about them.  Good luck
