  1. I had four kids, and when they were with me I ALWAYS used the sidewalk if there was one, used the lights (and the buttons at lights that had them) and not only did I look both ways and use caution, but I had them look both ways and proceed with caution.  I was walking with my son, aged 8, when I was hit by a truck in a crosswalk, he approached and didn't slow and turned right and I managed to hang onto the truck and not fall.  That driver was convicted of hit and run because he took off when I said I wanted to call the police.  He got out of his truck saying 'Since nobody is hurt lets just forget this' ... but I was hurt and spent two weeks flat on my back because of what he did.  ALL people should cross at the corners, use lights, etc., but to be honest, in my own neighborhood, I do jaywalk ... when there are NO CARS MOVING in sight.  I am either alone or walking with my husband, but NEVER would I do this if there was a child who could see me do it.  We live in a basically adult neighborhood, but if there were children who even could see me, I would go to the corner.  I don't care as much about myself as I do about others, especially children who are just learning 'the rules of the road.'

  2. i really should and most of the time i do but sometimes i do not.  I should be setting a better example.

  3. i always use the crosswalk and press the button, and now im teaching my daughter to look and listen both ways:)

  4. when i am walking wit kids old enough i always press the stupid button n wait for it to tell me to walk, set an example for the lil ones, but i have a 6 month old in a stroller n i cross whenever wit him, but my nieces i always do wut they r taught in school

  5. spanking is always the answer

  6. i never use that button cause you never now when a drunk driver will come speeding by.

  7. I always use the crosswalk and use and obey traffic signals when I'm accompanied by children.  While on my own, I may be a bit more cavalier with traffic laws (in all honesty).  However, I do not jeopardize the safety of children, nor do I wish to set a bad example for them.

  8. Always obey rules that you want your kid to follow.  Teach them to do the right and safe thing...and do it yourself.

  9. wow there are no crosswalk button where I'm at its always risk your life and run like h**l

  10. If there is a crosswalk, we definitely use it. And yes, we wait for the light. There was one exception, we had a crosswalk nearby our house and we knew it's cycle, so occasionally we would cross before it gave us the green light. But I told my kids to always wait...just in case. We always check before stepping off the curb because just because we may have the right away, doesn't mean the cars are paying attention! It's always best to be alert when walking!

  11. show your genuine actions. pretentious actions are the worst thing shown to children
