I’m from American and I just had the traditional dish of London, which are fish and ships. It tastes so good. I live in California so we have almost all kind of nationalities dishes. My question is what kind of sauce will be good to put on it.

  1. Fish and chips is meant to be eaten with balsamic vinegar on the fries and tartar sauce on the fish. It's hard to find a good brand of tartar sauce in a grocery store, if that is where you are going to get some, you may need to try a few until you find one you like.

Squeezes a little lemon juice on the fish, it tastes amazing!

  2. Just a few corrections for you.

You are from AMERICA, and you are AMERICAN.

Fish and chips is a traditional English dish, not a London dish per se, (London is the capital city of England).  And it's 'chips' not 'ships.'  The latter is a boat that floats on the sea.

Generally fish and chips are served with salt and vinegar.  Perhaps some ketchup too.  Heinz is as popular there as it is here.

Curry is also a really popular dish in England, and curry sauce is available at most fish and chip shops.  It comes in a small container and you can dip your chips in it.

  3. Forget the sauce - you must have mushy peas.  Sounds awful but is sooooooo good!

Otherwise, if you need sauce, the old faithful - Tommy K.

  4. The ONLY things to put on fish 'n' chips are salt and vinegar, some people like to add tomato ketchup as well. Forget the tartare sauce and lemon juice, they are great with other fish dishes but don't belong with fish 'n' chips. Always eat with your fingers. I can still remember visiting the local fish and chip shop and having them wrapped in newspaper. Fish 'n' chips are a traditional dish of England. A traditional dish of London would be jellied eels.

  5. A ton of salt and vinegar and then ketchup on the side =D.

Oh and you must eat them with wooden fork.

I haven't eaten them for years...

  6. Ships? Wouldn't they break your teeth? =]

When I get Fish and Chips I get a carton of curry sauce and put that over the whole lot, but you can just eat them with salt and vinegar, tomato sauce, or tartare sauce.

I know someone who puts gravy over it, but that wouldn't be my cup of tea =]

  7. I love that wooden fork thing

  8. do you mean fish and chips if so then balsamic vinegar, and if so you my friend are an idiot
