  1. Another person questioned this last week. Kathy must have been quite good and popular. Her email is still active on the website, and you can write and ask if you like. The link that takes you to her email form is below. But there's not much more about her there or on the KCBS web site.

She might have drawn a new assignment, moved along, won the lottery. She may be on vacation.

It's possible she doesn't actually work for Alice the radio station. She may work for one of the several companies that specialize in providing traffic info to radio stations. Or more likely in the KCBS San Francisco cluster news studios doing reports for several of their stations. This is not unusual in these days of public companies and economies of scale.

These specialized traffic reporters become the traffic voice of several stations. Many of these reporters work under different names. The stations they work for are usually of opposing styles/formats, so the odds of a listener noticing are slim. They might also alter their voice slightly for each station with processing equipment. They are good enough to be able to fit in with the style of each station and keep it consistent; all while helping to monitor traffic in a big city like San Francisco.

Some stations still have their own dedicated person for traffic, but most use one of these centralized syndicated services. If the reporter is on-air a lot and part of the show, she's probably a cast member and station employee.

If the reporter says something like"..for Mega-Traffic and All Hits 108, this is Bill!" at the end of his reports, he's with a service - some of which are operated by the regional HQ of the owning company. In this case that would be CBS Radio.

I don’t speak, act, or work for CBS. Nor do I have any idea why your traffic reporter is not still on the air. I’m just presenting possibilities, while throwing in a little reality about how certain elements are handled efficiently at well-run, big city stations like CBS. But the amount of interest in Kathy is encouraging. Hopefully she’ll be back soon. Or you’ll find out by email.
