how did you find an agent? what was your criteria? and do you like your agent or hate them?

  1. Ask friends in the business if you have them. Look in yellow pages of major cities or look up on the web. This depends on your chosen field of entertainment.

    You want someone with good connections that can get you signed on for gigs and keep you busy.

    Expect to pay about 10% (more if you're a newbie).

    Don't be afraid to switch agents later on as you get better known (by then, you'll run into more acts, ask them about their agents...)

    Don't sign an iron clad contract for a long period of time. Six months, tops.

    This is business. I'd rather have a complete *ss that gets me good works than my best friend in the world and I can't work.
