I sold my house 6 months ago and now I am getting a phone call from the title agency. They told me I owe $800 to them because did something wrong with the taxes.... The relator who helped the people buy my house did something wrong.... So they were trying to make me feel bad that the guy who bought my house should have to pay the extra taxes. I told the title company- that it was them who have to pay it. They made the mistake and the whole point of paying for a title to be done is just this!!?? They told me I would be hearing from their lawyer and I told them good, cause I am not paying it. My question is-

Who is responsible for this? I thought the title company was insured and they would have to cover this? And why didn't they figure this out sooner!? It's not like it's the week after.. it's been 6 months!!

  1. Call your Mortgage Broker and Closing Attorney. Title Insurance is to cover them in case the title is not clear and they mess up bad in that instance by clearing the title anyway. It is the closing Attorney's job to make sure everything is perfect in the closing package, and it is the Broker's job to put it that way - one of them is responsible.
