  1. Well he had a great debut tonight.

I'm not going to judge him based on that debut.

Although Bay is no Manny, I still think he's an above average player, he should still provide a decent bat for our lineup.

Just hope he can handle the Green Monster.

And I heard he throws like a girl though...I mean Manny had a rifle for an arm, just wish Bay could throw like him.

  2. i think he'll do well fellow chap smashing he'll do just smashing (slendid)

  3. It's really tough to say, but I think he'll do very well. Here's why:

    1. Fenway is a great place for a right hand batter with his swing and power. The Green Monster will be his friend. He is also patient, and that fits well with th rest of the line-up.

    2. He is MUCH more protected in the Sox lineup than at Pittsburgh. Last night he hit between Lowell and Drew. That's a pretty good place to be

    3. the Fenway fans want him to succeed badly, I was at the game last night, and he got a standing O in his first AB. After he scored the winning run, most fans waited around to hear his post game interview and cheered him madly.

    Thie issues are:

    1.  can he stand playing in Fenway? It's a crazy place, and others (e.g. Renteria) have just collapsed there under the pressure. I think he'll be ok because he has such strong fan support, and the fans will be more patient given Drew's turnaround this year.

    2. can he handle AL pitching? He doesn't know them, and they don't know him; we'll see where that goes. I think he has the advantage here...

By the way, I heard the "weak arm" argument too, but he made a couple of great throws last night, and the fact is that in LF in Fenway, if you can learn to play the wall, you don't need that great an arm to be successful. He held one guy to a single on a wall ball with that arm.

On balance, I think he does well, but the Angels are still in the best position to play in the WS, unless we REALLY turn it around with the hitting and the bullpen.

  4. I'm a yank i hate the sox but i'm a pirate and jason bay will shine. Jason bay is a solid player and is just as good as many ramirez cause manny is stinkin but bay is a great player and good at fielding.

  5. im a mets fan even though asked for sox fans only i figured since i hate the yanks as well i should be allowed to answer. i think it looked good in his first start and i think he will be a great player. he is still young and came from a team where we really dont know how good he is. i dont think you will have a problem with jason being jason if you get my drift, hope it works out and good luck in getting in the playoffs.

  6. Jason Bay is a great player he doesnt let the pressure get to him so he probably will do good in the playoffs.

  7. He'll probably shine because he can be help to a team sometimes and i'm not even sure if the Red Sox are going to the playoffs looking from now at the stats.
