  1. no you shouldnt lose weight, eat lots of protien, kinda, run... work out, cross train

  2. I run because I like it and I feel SO healthy afterwards. My motivation is that I'm a very competitive person-and I know that if I am a part of the cross country team, I am one of the best athletes in my school. I run for cross country season, which is three miles. Off season I do anywhere from 1-2 miles. While training, I run five miles a day. A good plan to get started is by running a mile, four to five days a week. You'll feel a GREAT change. It doesn't take long, and you'll start noticing awesome leg muscles and a slimmer body. I am 15 years old, and have been running since I was 11. You DO NOT need to lose weight to run-you will lose weight when you run! If you're chunky, you'll lose weight, than gain muscle. If you're skinny, you'll gain muscle, and weight (you won't look fatter. Muscle weighs more then fat). Off season, I eat about 900 calories a day (but this doesn't mean all runners do, I'm just odd). During season, I have to eat about 2500 calories to keep myself going (we run anywhere from 4-7 miles daily). So, I eat a lot. However, if running 2 miles a day, I would just stick to your normal diet. An average day would be...an average day! Except I would take out some time at night to go running.

It's great fun! Stay motivated, you'll be SO happy with yourself. Don't quit...I promise it gets easier.

  3. well im on my schools track team so i guess i can try to help

u get to b a good runner by practice of course u can use watever u want to motivate urself its not hard to run its just the practice is hard and u have to realli commit urself to it and not give up. u can run as long as u want. my practice is from 3 to 415 like today he made us run 10 100s wit a min break in bw. u should try to go to the weight room or gym not to gain muscle but endurance. (thats wat my winter track coach would always say) and u should eat healthy food but u dont have to give up all bad foods though just make sure u get enough nutritions into ur system so u have enough energy to run

    u should try running intervals if u want to b a fast funner like run 2 100s then 2 200s then like 1 300 then 1 100

if u want to b a long distance runner u should run a mile each time @ ur own speed till u get confortable then increase ur speed

  4. Woah, a lot of questions.  I am motivated because my wife likes to spend a lot of time running.  I go with her because she's always on the road.  It's a fun group activity.  We run anywhere betwen 3-10 miles and we compete in half- and full-marathons.  We eat regular food and the days are normal.  The only difference is that we're running instead of watching tv or playing Playstation.

I suggest you go out and try to complete a 2 mile run.  It's not a RUN, exactly.  You jog nice and slow and you enjoy the weather while you're out.  Try it for two weeks and see if you like running three times a week.  That should be a good start.

Let us know how it goes!

  5. keep running, get into track, it makes it even more enjoyable. i hope you ge into it, because when i started, i didn't like it, but now it's something i really love!

  6. Running is a lifetime commitment. It becomes a part of who you are after awhile. I ran cross country in High school and 30 years later guess what I still do? Cross country. My children run cross country and there children may do the same. The benefits of running are at my age still today high school runners are speechless when they look back and the old f**t is still in sight. The short cuts I have learned over the years makes up for a lot of time wasted by runners who should blow my doors off. I am healthy and happy and have always excelled in everything I seek to do. I enjoy running because it has blessed me all of my life. Life is running the hard times are when I an tired and have three hills to climb. The good times are the down hill side of the last hill and hitting the flats toward the finish line.

I hope you get started and stay with this event it is worth the sweat.

  7. Honestly it is about commitment.  Eat healthy, and be ready to run even on days when you really don't want too.  Check out this site : runnersworld.com   They can help you in the right direction.  Start easy, and every week build up more and more endurance (if that is what you are going for).  Look for different workout types, goals, etc.  It helps to know about running.  Your motivation will come from the confidence you get from being able to go that fast, or that far, knowing that many others will fail at your task.  I know my goal (4 minute mile) can and WILL be achieved.  I just have to work at it.  Don't be stressed when you plateau- the best runs always come unexpectedly and feel awesome.  There are so many things, but you really have to get out there and just run.  Questions?  just ask.
