Question for runners?

Trying to find out if there are very many people who have extreme fatigue even though they run. I run 3 miles a day and don't ever feel energized the next day, just exhausted. Sometimes I have to take a nap just to get the energy to run and end up running around 8:30 at night.

  1. I am in Track in highschool....

And I was a long distance person....

    We would run...

Long Distance one day 3-6 miles.

Then the next day we would do something like pacing..

Then run miles again the next day.

My advice for you is to either run 3 or more miles one day and then the next day take a break to rest your muscles from exhaustion....and then during your rest day just take a nice mile jog or half a mile.

    OR

You can keep on running 3 miles a day and eat a lot of carbohydrates(carbs) and try having a gatorade 2 hours or so before you run. Also get to sleep early and run later in the day (6-7) because then its not really dark and its cooler outside....I don't know why but it just doesn't exhaust me as much.

    Hope this helped!♥

  2. Once your body is conditioned you wont feel as tired the next day. Fatigue is normal in the first few weeks of training.

  3. you might be deficient in iron.  its a common problem among female runners and it causes a lot of fatigue.  it's called sports anemia, and it can get worse as training levels increase and your body has a greater need for iron and your diet is  not supplying it.  look on food labels and try to eat foods that are high in iron and see if you feel better.  iron is in some meats as well as grains.

  4. The best thing to do is an alteration of sprints and long miles every day. How fast are you running? Your miles should be a slow to medium jog, not faster. Once a week you should do tempo runs, which are fast jogs to slow strides. Just remember: If you're hurting a lot one day, take it easy. You can't "run the pain off." You have to rest it. It seems you have been running for quite a long time, so you are probably conditioned, just make sure you don't run three miles everyday. Do it every other day, and on the other days do sprints or strides.
