Question for san Diego people?

is san diego sort of a beachy type place a bit like miami or is it more city like

The unique thing about San Diego is that it is spread out into many different communities.  The communities of Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, and Mission Beach are quite "beachy"....other communities are not beachy at all.

Balboa Park is a huge urban park complete with many museums, gardens, the zoo, restaurants, and performing art venues....not beachy at all.

The downtown Gaslamp Quarter has a huge amount of restaurants and nightclubs with live entertainment and dancing.

There's theater, music, and professional sports to enjoy as well.

If you want beachy, you can certainly find it in San Diego....but if you are looking for something else, you should be able to find it as well.

Its both. There's plenty of beaches to visit. Downtown is pretty cool too.

That depends on what part of San Diego County your in.

East County is Cowboys and Rednecks.

South County is Latino.

The North County west of the 5 freeway is old style beach towns.

its a little bit of both down by the gas lamp quarter and petco park its more city. and down by seaworld and all that its beachy. its perfect for evey one

San Diego is much further north than Miami.  It is not hot and tropical here.  It is more like the Carolinas if you are compariing it to somewhere on the East Coast.  If you want tropical, you need to go quite a bit further south, like Cabo San Lucas.

i've never been to miami but it could be both, not sure. it is very beachy in some parts of the city, like close to the beach, lol. lots of places you'll find palm trees and stuff. and farther from the beach is obviously more city-life.

Well I have never been to Miami, but SD is not the kind of place where hot chicks in bikinis sun bathe all day. There is a lot of surfing and beach volleyball going on, but people here are pretty active and not just going to the beach to show off. Not everyone anyway. There are a lot of families and LOTS of tourists at the beach. It is beachy and city at the same time.

It is a fantastic city, San Diego county has beaches, foothills, mountains desert. You name it, San Diego or San Diego county has it.  Lived there for 23 years, wish I was still there.
