Would basal metabolic rate increase if I sat down all day but was doing lots of studying and concentrating really hard?

  1. Hi -

    First, basal metabolic rate (BMR) is measured under very strict conditions. For example, you have to fast for about 12 hours before you can measure it (to make sure that you've finished digesting the last thing you ate). The conditions you described are probably not suitable for calculating BMR (since any meaningful studying or concentration requires you to be more nourished and use more parts of your brain than BMR conditions generally allows for).
