I'm interested to know the ages of people that are interested in this topic. I doubt that any generalizations can be made, but it provides some perspective on where your views are coming from. I know some people are reluctant to tell (you know who you are), but if you don't mind sharing I'd like to know. I'll start it off, I'm 49.

    Er, sorry, believer!

    I thought this was R&S!

  2. Skeptical of Anthropogenic Global Warming.

I'm all for protecting the environment, recycling, reduction, reuse, etc.

I'm in favor of finding alternative energy sources - and developing them.

I'm also all for responsible use of our natural resources.

    Age:  40

  3. 39 and a non-believer

(she is on this forum, the thumb down was probably hers)

  6. Skeptic, age 42, I.Q. 149, Hey if worldemperor can do it why not me??

  7. I'm a skeptic 38.

Anyway, obviously some people like Bob and Amy didn't grow out of the 'saving the world' phase.  I think these two are the exception rather than the norm and most people become more politically conservative as they grow older.

I know I was quite interested in left wing politics when I was young & before I started working for a living - people change.

  8. The Yahoo global climate change version of roll call, I love it.

I believe, I'm 53, have no clue as to what my IQ is anymore, if I ever did.

I caught the tail end of the '60's, a world gone wild, and it made a big impression on the younger me.  Part of that was the growing environmental movement, and the 1st Earth Day in 1970.  I remember learning early about smog in Milwaukee, hearing that it was "the invisible kind," hearing about Dutch Elm disease and that Lake Eerie had been pronounced dead.

On the nice side, I also remember visiting both sets of grandparents and having a blast outside.  And vacations at Point Beach in Wisconsin, and being disappointed to learn later that they'd built a nuclear power plant there. But it was there I learned about habitat, even though I never heard the word then, as we splashed in Lake Michigan, wove our way through the forest, and dashed through the sand dunes.  Didn't know that the mosquitoes sucking my blood were female, didn't care.  A lot of life experience, most of it good.

We on this site come from so many backgrounds.  That part is great.  Now if we can just increase the level of civility to a more tolerable level ... maybe these kinds of questions can help do that.

  9. 27, AGW proponent.

  10. 44 IQ unknown, shoe size 9?

I think AGW is happening based on working for a science group since ~10 years BG (Before Gore) i.e late 80s

  11. Also at 49 years of knowledge, I don't believe that global warming can be caused by man.  History backs me up

  12. 39

  13. 28  ohh  umm believer

  14. Older than you.  Know that AGW is scientific fact.

  15. 22 and im a believer

  16. 20 years older than you,  Science background,

    Man isn't a significant contributor.

The data supports that the globe has been getting warmer in the last  50 years or so, but the data doesn't support man is the cause. Data does indicate several ice ages since man first appeared on earth.

  17. Believer - mid-40s.

Interesting - the average age is much higher than I had suspected (at least of the people answering here). Wonder how this correlated with the recent question (aka rant) asking why younger people tend to be believers and older people are skeptics?

  18. Interesting.  I've seriously though about asking everyone's education level but I was afraid I would get a bunch of lies.

    Anyway, I am 25.

EDIT:  No, geoweeg, I am not making that assertion.  I am just curious, and I know it's easy to lie here.

  19. Skeptical.

15 years old with an IQ of 125

  20. 25, and i Believe it. how could you not?

  21. Skeptic, age 41.

Believer when I was in my twenties.

  22. 52, skeptic. Hey Bob, you didn't say which side you were on!

  23. skeptic, and I'm 44

    manda,

Saw your post.  I assume your making the assertion that people who don't believe in AGW are uneducated.

I received a BS in Geology and an MS in Environmental Science (so there might be a small chance that I know what I'm talking about).
