Question for speed Swimmers-the week of a BIG meet when do you start resting for it if its on friday,Saturday?

Im asking because Ive missed like 4 meets due to injuries and I cant really remember exactly how long your supposed to rest before the meet, I think its 2 days though

Also Id like to know how you rest and what you do 1-3 days before

  1. Resting for meets depends on your training schedule.  For end of season or 'peak performance' meets, the standard taper is generally considered 10-14 days.  Over this period the distance of the workouts will decrease, yet the intensity will increase.  At the end you'll still be doing 70-80% of your average volume consisting of some short speed work and technique/recovery swimming.  

    If you have questions, one of the best resources is your coach.  They should be able to answer all your questions.
