Question:

Question for the Hillary Supporters?

I am an Obama supporter, and naturally, being in the Obama camp, I am upset with how Hillary Clinton ran her campaign (especially as I am a former financial supporter of Hillary's as a Senator from New York).

I have heard a lot of anger from the Hillary camp as well regarding "mudslinging" from Obama. I am honestly looking for some perspective on this, as I thought Obama ran a mostly honorable campaign. He did sometimes defend himself against charges from the other side, and call Hillary Clinton for "playing politics". But almost without exception, he seemed to be responding accusations that didn't seem fair, and just calling her on tactics.

And Michigan and Florida, I didn't think became issues for the Clinton camp until she was behind. But -- I am open to hearing other perspectives. SO... please give me some genuine, non-combatitive insight as to the divide the Democrats may face in November. Why do Clinton supporters feel that Obama ran an unfair campaign? Thanks.

  1. Charity-

I can't believe you just compared Obama to Bush.

  2. Obama is so opaque, who knows what he stands for or represents? His supporters have no gumption! He has this ability to talk and talk and talk, and yet say absolutely NOTHING at all.  It's a weak campaign. He has no girth. He is getting the black vote easy.  Too bad he knows nothing about growing up as a typical black American.  Unless you compare being a half Kenyan, privileged son of two doctors, globe trotting brat to being a poor inner-city african american kid...The guy is pathetic, and in the long run he is just ruining it for evetyone because we all know McCain is going to defeat him. Thanks guys.

  3. sorry i read this and i had to comment

To you Hillary fans you will need to get it together and unite now. Hillary is still a politician and she will still encourage you to vote for Obama. If you are really a fan of hers and want to turn this country around you need to vote for Obama.

Lets keep it real. 90 percent of you would not have voted for Hilliary if Bill wasnt president. Bill is not running for president she is. Obama has ran this race fair and square.

You all keep saying its all about experience but to me its more than that something deeper-bc experience is what got us in this c**p- so who would you be hurting if you vote rep.

    "the rest of the country"

please explain what experience she has again this is not bill runing for president

    Go Obama

  4. When the Obama campaign actually typed and circulated a memo identifying Clinton remarks that could potentially be racist and circulated it to the talking heads on television . . . that's when I said no freakin way will I ever vote for the guy.  And quite frankly, I think Obama is arrogant.  There's something intangible about the guy that just gives me the creeps . . . oddly enough it's the same feeling I get from Bush.

    Moscas . . . Believe it.

  5. Go Obama...

  6. I think I see things the way you do JoeT.  I started out supporting Clinton but became impressed with Obama.  As the campaign went on, I became to feel that Hillary was conducting her campaign, at best as the consumate politician, and at worse as a student of Karl Rove.  I became quite upset when she said, in effect, that there were only two people in the race that were prepared to be president on day one ---her and McCaine.  She could have drawn differences between her and Obama without having bolstered McCaine.  She hurt the democratic party in general with that statement.

She and her husband have always been popular with African-American voters and when she started losing this block of voters, I was frankly surprised at how she was willing to use subtle racial references to appeal to the fears of working class Whites.

I think she has shown that she wants the presidency so bad that she will do anything to attain it ---even if it is destructive to the democratic party and to the nation.

On the other hand, I see Obama as someone fairly fresh who has yet to be sullied by big time politics.  He impresses me as someone who really wants to lift the level of discourse in the country and bring about real lasting change.  In my mind, he has run about as clean a campaign as one could have under the circumstances.

I am sorry that I haven't answered your question.  I do not fully inderstand Clinton supporters.  It is time to come together to defeat the Republicans and get behind Obama as the Democratic candidate and the next president of the United States.

  7. Each individual person must decide for himself on this matter. Media and others try to generalize and that doesn't work because of the varied opinions. In any event, it is time for women to get what they have wanted for years...a female President...and in this case, a bonus of a first gentleman with a vast experience. Go, Hillary, go regardless of who said what to whom!! Policy and experience rule. There will be no Democratic divide because the focus will be on defeating McCain.
