Question:

Question for the liberal thinker regarding health-care?

As a conservative I never could understand the logic coming come the liberal view pointing regarding the health-care crisis and I would appreciate some clarity....and thanks in advance!!!

Here's my view:

In 1950, only 32.% of American had health insurance, by 1960

39%, in 1970 56%, in 1990 71%..today we have 40 million unisured..BUT 260 million DO have health insurance.

point being....isn't it getting better not worse...and yes 40 million is unacceptable...but why blame the government/other taxpayers. What about personal responsibilty. Shouldn't we be asking WHY people don't have coverage rather than saying "other" people should provide it for them.

The contridiction: Most of my liberal friends HATE government in their lives in ANY way, the patriot act etc...and I agree 100% but why are you so willing to allow government involvement and intrusion into OUR doctors office.

thanks for reading this and giving me clarity on your view point on this issue!

  1. You underscore the old adage, "The Republican Party is the party of the selfish" That's exactly what it is.

The republicans believe everyone should pull their own weight. They want a do or die society. And if you should die -so what!

It's strange but this is the same party that most denies natural selection.

  2. Well most liberals don't have steady high paying jobs and are the people who work at McDonalds and Burger King. So anything that has the word FREE in it sounds like a good idea to them.

  3. The quality of the healthcare is what is at question. There are too many reasons why someone cannot have an operation including a widely used one citing it would be experimental,if the patient is depending on this while on his deathbed then why would it matter the level of uncertainty surrounding it when the person will surely die without any attempt.

Obamas views on prevention are extremely well thought out and very relevant to people not depending on healthcare provided by the government as you say. There are already intrusions in our doctors offices and they are called lobbyists. Those that only see a good job as the one that makes the most profit. And they give millions to the candidate that best supports them and their chances to make more profit.creating a vicious cycle that needs to end but will not end until less dependancy on healthcare is created which is brought on by Obamas liberal view to aid in prevention.

  4. All I know is that I personally know 3 people- I see them regularly-- who

    1. has tons of things wrong with her- she's practically bedridden- all most of it caused by her morbid obesity.  She hasn't worked in decades- living on Social Security. She's had numerous operations- knee replacements included, she's on about ten meds.... All paid for by you and me.

    2.  Another woman, quite obese too (I don't pick my friends- they found me) who has a 10 year old child.  Woman claims she can't do this or do that.. "I've got bad knees and back" DUH I would too at that weight.. Anyway- she works maybe 3 days a week at the school, for minimum wage.  Her apartment is paid for- her health care is paid for... all by you guessed it- us taxpayers.  She even get food money everymonth too.

The 3 person is a young man, who has no family left because of tragedies. He got cancer and is currently going thru treatments. He can't work right now, naturally.  So EVERYTHING is being paid for.... yes, he's being taken care of by Uncle Sam. Thankfully.  His employment before he got sick didn't offer insurance so he was never covered.

Anyway my point is- I just don't see that people aren't being taken care of here!!!!

And I just want to slap the food away from those two women.  Just sit in front of TV and EAT all day long. I swear to what ever gods are out there that is what they do all day.

As if such a job as I have right now as I type- sitting behind a desk and doing paperwork all day is all that hard?

  5. I'm one of those who have no insurance ... although my husband has insurance through his work, and I could get it, but ONLY if we wanted to pay $350 a month for it.  I've had cancer TWICE, and two 'critical heart attacks' and MAY have to go to the hospital again ... but my current 'medical costs' including my doctor and prescriptions, are only $120 a month.  I'd still have to wait six full months before being able to use it, and then would have to make a LARGER co-pay than I do now for appointments ... and pay MORE than I do now for my medications.  In short, the 'insurance' would cost us FAR MORE than taking the risk I'll go to the hospital again.  There's another 'bad thing' ... if I was insured, I would have to be put into a 'ward' in the hospital with 3-6 other people ... as an uninsured person, I get a 'private room' because of the amount of 'extra care' I need and the fact that I sometimes have to be totally undressed ....  so I would LOVE a 'government insurance program' that would cover me ... but I doubt that any that actually passes congressional votes will because of my age ... I'm 57 and with 'critical heart disease' am not expected to live very long anyway, so I don't 'count' as much as a child ...

  6. I'm not a liberal. But I'm answering anyway. Mandated anything is bad. Car insurance isn't cheaper or better because everyone has it. Health insurance is no different. The prices will continue to rise because the insurance people will continue to pay the providers whatever they ask and then pass it on in higher premiums. We were far better off when you could see the doctor for a chicken and some eggs and he came to your house.

An important thing to remember is a politician won't do anything for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. And a government big enough to give you what you want is also big enought to take away everything you have.
