Where do you get your patterns? Are you satisfied with what you can find? Why or why not? I'm thinking about writing a knitting book of stuffed animals. Any advice?

  1. I find my patterns online for free.  Bernat has a really soft teddy bear that I just love.

I guess the quality of some patterns are low.  They don't look or feel nice, more like someone just thought it up, without putting much thought into it.  When I knit a toy, I want it to look like something I can buy in store, and would want to.  Not like something I would give to my dog.

Edit:  Well if you can create a book full of quality toy patterns, I'd buy it.  My kids are teenagers now but I like to knit for charities and I could never give them something I wasn't proud of.

  2. I've almost never seen a knitted toy that cuts it. Sorry, but I think fabric (could be fulled knitting) is the best for soft toys. BTW, I don't think an object that has to be lined with cloth to work (toy, purse) is really 'knitted' - the knitting is only the surface decoration.
