Question for those who have been to spain?

i am going to be living in canet de mar which is 45 mins away from barcelona, spain. Its also on the beach. im 16 and ill go to high school there. is it true that there are really attractive guys/girls??? && what do people dress like is the fasion pretty much the same as ours? Also, are people friendly there will it be easy to make friends? I guess you could say im the average teenager, im in cheeleading and just like having fun. i guess you could say im "preppy". Do you think i will easily fit in?

I lived in Spain for 2 years while in college. I suggest that you wait to buy new clothes until you get to Canet de Mar, why? you might ask, because European and American style of dress in COMPLETELY different. European women say that us Americans dress "frumpy" (you know in sweat pants and flip flops). They don't wear stuff like that and it is totally taboo to wear shorts and flip flops in Spain. Hey! I am German and I have been to Spain pretty often ... especially to party in Lloret de Mar! I think that the Spanish people are hot cause I like the tanned skin and the brown hair! =) The people there are very friendly and I think If you're not shy and try to get to know them you're gonna have tons of friends! Well, about the way they dress ... it's right European people dress different! You can wear you're Flip Flops when you go to the beach or when you go shopping ... just not the ones you can buy at Target for a dollar! They should look nice! And it is right that people in Europe don't wear sweatpants except they work out! Most of the young people buy the clothes from H&M or stores like Wetseal or Forever 21 ... and even when they go to school they try to look as pretty as possible! =)

Sounds like you are in for a great adventure! I am an American living in Spain and I LOVE it here! Yes the people are really friendly but my 16 year old niece was less than impressed by the "guys" when she came to visit. Wait till you get to spain to buy new clothes IMO the fashion trends are a little ahead of most of the states!
