Question for those with a Blu-Ray player?

I bought a Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray player about 6 months ago. I've really been enjoying it, but have been having a problem with it. Most of my Blu-Ray discs will play, but others won't play at all.

So far, I have had 3 discs that wouldn't play. What happens is I place the disc in and a Loading screen shows up. It is a black screen and at the bottom it says "Loading" and underneath that is a blue bar that keeps moving back and forth, indicating that the movie is loading. The problem is that the movie will never load...I know some Blu-Ray players have long load times, but I have waited up to ten minutes for the movies to load with no success. It's just as if the blu-ray gets stuck or something. I have tried cleaning the discs and the inside of my blu-ray player but still no luck. I read the troubleshooting section in my manual and nothing in it was helpful.

Has anyone else had this problem? What should I do?

  1. More than likeley the movies that you're having issues with are newer movies. Inside every Blu-ray Disc there's a little piece of paper that states that you may have issues playing certain titles. Follow the directions on that slip of paper to update the firmware ony our Blu-ray player, this more than likely will resolve your issue :)

  2. you will need the current software update. i have included a link that will navigate you to how to perform the firmware update. this should fix the quirks that are occuring on you unit.

    good luck to you.

  3. I'm not to sure because I have a ps3 but can't you download software updates for the players? You could try that and see if it works after that.
