I have arthritis and tendinitis in my thumb and around that area. Doc basically says take a pill and deal with it. I bought a brace at the drugstore..do any of you wear one and do you wear it to bed? Has anyone got any suggestions for home remedies other that Ibuprofen? Do you have any creams that work?

  1. I have psoriatic arthritis. Don't bother with creams there a waste of money. If it is just your hand try using a paraffin bath. It is a small tub with warm melted wax. You dip your hand in it take it out and put something that looks like a mitten on. The warmth is very soothing. Paraffin baths and are not too expensive and you can get them at any drug store. For painrelievers try Alieve. It is noproxen. I have used it many times.

  2. If your arthritis is longstanding, Tylenol should work fine for pain relief without the GI effects of the antiinflammatories. There are lots of topical pain pain rubs, try samples until you find one that works for you. A lot of them are quite effective. Be careful about over-bracing/splinting yourself. You do not wish to lose range of motion in your joints.
