If one of the presidential candidates came up with a system to support animal cruelty where vegans and vegetarians received small tax deductions for not eating meat would you support him? The system would be that it warrants all people to eat say 20 pounds of meat a year or any other more reasonable amount and anybody who eats less gets deductions. It would support vegetarians and help them purchase some more expensive food and give ppl more incentive to eat more vegetables and be healthier. You would be given an account that tracks all purchases dealing with meat and at the end of year you file your taxes and hopefully get a discount! How do you think a presidential candidate proposed this bill? What would the reaction be? How likely this ever happens?

  1. Never gonna happen, but if it did I would be sooo excited. lol.

  2. no i hate that idea we are all farmers where i live and its tough to make profit on animals already. we are losing money. corn is worth more now than ever. biggest spike in history keeps going up. we want to sell our corn not feed it to animals but if your an animal farmer you have to. you dont realize how much they eat.

  3. It will never happen in our life time.

  4. Please vote me for President and I will implement all your suggestions. By the way, can an Australian citizen become an American President?

If Rupert Murdoch did it in the Media surely I could do it too in politics .

  5. No. First off I don't want the government tracking what I eat. 2nd there's really no practical way to do that. Just because I bought it doesn't mean I ate it and vice versa. 20 pounds is kind of arbitrary - so if my only meat purchase was one 22 pound turkey to feed my family of of 10 at Thanksgiving I don't get the credit even though I only ate 2.2 pounds?

There's no way you could install a POS to track ALL meat anyway - all groceries, all restaurants, all caterers (weddings, etc.), all county fairs.....would need a card reader.

In all practicality I don't see a candidate pissing off several thousand workers (read taxpaying voters) and the multitude of lobbyists that work in the agriculture or slaughter businesses.

  6. cool idea but it's not gonna happen....

  7. I kinda doubt that would even pass the legislative or anything since animals would still be killed in the process regardless of anything.

  8. If this is ever going to happen, it will cost a lot a lot a lot. The reaction from the media will not be good, well of course the people that don't support it. As for positive, probably only the vegetarians/vegans. This is not likely to happen, but an interesting thought. I kinda wished it did. Vegetarians/vegans are more likely to be healthy rather then meat eaters. Having a healthy perspective like this will probably change a lot of people's diets, but like this will ever happen anytime soon. i am vegetarian btw, and I love every minute of it!

  9. Would be awsome not very likely tough

  10. we need a vegetarian president....
