    Victory in Europe

  2. VE Day, V-Day means victory in europe when Germany surrendered.

  3. In reality, Admiral Karl Doenitz, who took over as leader of Germany after Hitler, surrendered on May 7, 1945.  The news was announced to the world on May 8, and that's why May 8 is V-E (Victory in Europe) Day.  August 15 is the day Japan formally surrendered, which is V-J Day.  Hope this helps.
