I'm referring for a visitor's visa in Japan. The forms which I saw from Japan embassy seemed limited to some relatives of a pilipino wife of japanese national. I really appreciate all those who responded to my question, however, it seemed that they misinterpreted the premise of my previous question. I am asking for the degree of relations, that can be allowed the privilege of a visitors visa.

  1. Form No. 1-C (visa application) or the Letter of guarantee does not specify the degree of consaguinity.  I am not sure if there were new restrictions placed on relatives of foreigner spouses of Japanese nationals. But from what I gather, as soon as a person is/becomes a Japanese national, they can invite/guarantee anyone. (no relation required) While they are not yet nationals, their Japanese spouse can do the inviting/guarantee. Hope this helps.**

  2. Relatives in reference to visa applications are the direct relatives consisting of parents and children in relation to a person.
