Is it the The virgin Mary, The virgin of Guadalupe, or The virgin Maria. I'm curious cause i've heard people saying that the virgin Guadalupe is his mother, but i've also heard the same of virgin Maria and Mary. I don't go to church, but i believe in god and have a religion i believe in, but i'm not sure about this answer.

  1. Yes, Yes, and Yes.  They are all either names or titles of the Virgin Mary.

  2. Technically, all these are correct. They are one and the same. My only problem is, there is too much focus on Mary, and not enough on the real reason Christianity exist and that's Christ.

  3. It is the Virgin Mary. Maria or Miriam are both forms of her name in other languages (Spanish and Hebrew, in that order). The Virgin of Guadalupe is another one of her titles, and it is in this form that she is patroness of the Americas.

And for the person who said she was not a virgin because Christ had other brothers and sisters, what you've failed to realize is that "brothers and sisters" in Hebrew refers not just to siblings but also to close cousins. The Virgin Mary remained a virgin all her life before she was assumed into Heaven, body and soul. Some believe that Joseph was a widower, and so there may have been children from a previous marriage. He most definately would have been quite a bit older than Mary.

However, Mary never actually gave birth to anyone other than Jesus.

For the record, some other titles for the Virgin Mary are Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Knock, Our Lady of the Snows, The Black Madonna, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, The Immaculate Conception, Queen of the Waves, Queen of Heaven, Tower of Ivory, Tower of Gold, Mother Most Pure, Mother Undefiled, The Morning Star, Star of the Sea, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, and Our Lady of the Rosary.

She is the Queen Conceived Without Original Sin, which is the Immaculate Conception. She is the Queen of Angels and the Mystical Rose. She has many titles. Several of them are listed in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

  4. Dont let weirdos confuse you. The Virgin Mary, Mary, and Maria are all the same person (Maria is the Spanish version of "Mary" and Jose is the Spanish version of "Joseph")

  5. mary

  6. The virgin Mary, wife of Joseph is who scripture tells us is Jesus' mother.  Maria is simply Mary in Italian and the others are supposed appearances of the Virgin Mary.

  7. They are one and the same, but within different cultures, I believe.

Spanish-speaking Roman Catholics are big on saints and some of them have several names, and are referred to differently in different regions/countries, I think. At least, this seems to be the only fitting explanation.

But in English, the virgin Mary.

  8. Mary. Not the virgin mary. She did have kids after Jesus. All these others are made up by the some of the false teachings of catholicism. If you didnt know that answer, then this one ought to really blow your mind, the mormons believe that "God" being nothing more than an exalted man (who is flesh not spirit) literally had s*x with marry therefore destroying the virgin birth.

  9. Mary was the mother of Christ. Not the virgin Mary, Maria, or Guadalupe. Those are Catholic beliefs. Mary was not a virgin. Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus because He was supernaturally made and conceived through the Holy Spirit, but she later married Joseph, and guess what? She was no longer a virgin. But, to answer ur question, the mother of Jesus is Mary....and she was a virgin at the time of Jesus's birth.

  10. Jesus' mother was a girl whose name is translated Mary in English, Maria in Spanish, Italian and maybe a couple others.  All unmarried girls were called virgins.  So the Virgin Maria and the Virgin Mary are the same thing.

The Virgin of Guadalupe is a longer story.  Basically an 17th century Indian slave said he saw a vision of the Virgin Maria (they were in the Spanish territory of Mexico).  The Virgin de Guadalupe or Our Lady of Guadalupe was named for the hill on which she appeared.

If you believe this legend (I, myself do not) then all three are the same person, but manifested in different ways.

  11. Not quite sure why you ask this question but glad you did. Mary, the virgin, did give birth to Jesus Christ. Just read the Bible. The book of Mathew (new testament). It's all there for ya.

  12. The Virgin of Guadalupe was not his mom.  She is the St. patron of Mexico, our embassador to him.    We dont think of Jesus being her son.   Mary was his mom!  Hugz!

  13. All of the above.  Maria is another form of the name Mary; and the Virgin of Guadalupe *is* the Virgin Mary.  As with several saints, Mary is known by several different 'aspects' related to her history and areas of special concern.  The Virgin of Guadalupe was a legendary appearance of the Virgin Mary in 1531.

  14. Those are titles for Mary.  so they are all the same person  the virgin Mary

  16. They are all different names for Mary. Our Lady of Guadalupe or Fatima or Lourdes or wherever refers to apparitions of Mary.

  17. They are all the same person. The Virgin of Guadalupe was a vision of Mary who appeared in Guadalupe. Maria is just Mary in Spanish and some other languages.

  18. it's virgin mary.

  19. Nobody.  Jesus is an amalgamation of many other older myths that were deified by the early Church.

  20. The Virgin of Guadalupe IS the Blessed Virgin Mary.

    Maria is Italian for Mary.

  21. Mary fyi she's no a virgin anymore, jesus had earthly siblings it bothers me when people still refer to her as a virgin. BTW why does she have so many names, she is simply Mary. Only catholics emphasize her role as mother to Jesus, I don't think they should put her at the same level as He.

  22. Well the virgin Mary is his mother in most christian faiths. It might be Maria in spanish but its definitely not Guadalupe.

  23. there all the same, just differnt people believe in that name that they do because of the color of mary. americans see her as a white mary, mexicans see her as a mexican mary, but the fact is she's still mary. just differnt names because differnt types/races of people see her differntly.

  24. Virgin Mary.  But "maria" Is Mary in latin....i think...

I have never heard of the virgin of Guadalupe

  25. She was the virgin Mary. God planted the seed of life into her without her having to have intercourse, because she was so pure

  26. All the people you mention are the same Mary. She has been seen by saints and mystics in a number of different places.

  27. They're just differing names for Our same Mother.  Each name is associated with a special devotion or appearance of our Mother to individuals or groups.

The Virgin Mary is the Mother of God, Jesus.  The Virgin Mary appeared in Guadalupe, Mexico to Juan Diego.  She performed miracles and appeared in visions.  So, we venerate Mary as Our Lady of Guadalupe--giving her the special title in order to commemorate her appearance in said city.

Mary has many names which we attribute to her--all based on visions, appearances, or in accordance with special prayers answered.

Our Lady, Queen of Heaven and Earth, pray for us!

    God Bless you.

  28. It is all the same Mary. The different names refer to the places where people received visions of Her. (This is only in the Catholic faith. Protestants barely acknowledge Her.)

    - Non-Catholic teacher in a Catholic school

  29. Her name was Mary, a form of the name Miriam, the famous sister of Moses. The name was common among Jewish women in those days.A well-known tradition says she was born in Jerusalem, the daughter of Joachim and Ann. Other early sources say Mary was born in Nazareth. There is even an ancient record that points to Sepphoris, a town a few miles from Nazareth, as her birthplace. Map (15 K gif)

Wherever she was born, Mary's life most likely unfolded in the staunch Jewish settlement of Nazareth in the hills of Galilee, not far from the important caravan routes linking Egypt and Mesopotamia.

The Jews there were a strong, robust people. The hill climate was dry and healthful. And though the land often lacked water and no one knew from one year to the next if enough rain would fall or if invading locusts or field mice would spoil the crops -- still, facing uncertainty only made the people of Galilee more hard-working and close-knit. Struggling for a living deepened their religious spirit. They learned you must depend on God always.
