Question marks being raised over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Aslam-c89364’s role with the Pakistan team – Cricket News Update
A number of domestic coaches of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are not happy with the continuity of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 Aslam as the assistant manager of the national team as they believe other coaches also deserve exposure at the ultimate level of the game.
The 42-year-old has been attached with the Green Shirts since the last couple of years in one role or the other. The former first-class cricketer is one of the highly qualified coaches in the country and is also PCB's Manager Coach Education alongside playing
a huge role in the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
Lots of changes have been made in the coaching staff of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team but Aslam has somehow retained his position.
Some of the local coaches believe that Aslam’s persistence with the Pakistan team is because of his close relations with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380, the Director International Cricket of PCB, hinting towards nepotism.
A domestic coach, on the condition of anonymity, expressed that there are many competent coaches in the country and urged the Chairman PCB to take up this matter.
The source expressed, “The PCB Chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 should look into this as Aslam is using his close association with Intikhab Alam to keep his place with the national team. There are better coaches than him in Pakistan.”
Pakistan is currently in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, where they have levelled the T20 series. Now the Green Shirts will play five One Day Internationals and three Test matches against the Islanders and Aslam is an integral part of the team’s think-tank.
The source further added that PCB needs to give opportunities to other coaches in the country as well so that they can learn the trait by working at the international level. He expressed that if the board properly trains new coaches, it will benefit national
cricket in future.
“The board should give others a chance as promised by the chairman on his appointment because, this way, other coaches in the country will be groomed and there'll be no need to appoint foreign coaches in the longer run,” he added.
