  1. commiting suicide is haram in islam

  2. Wow i don't know, but i'm really sorry, i will pray for your family.

  3. (2:195) You shall spend in the cause of GOD; do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. You shall be charitable; GOD loves the charitable.

(4:29) O you who believe, do not consume each others' properties illicitly - only mutually acceptable transactions are permitted. You shall not kill yourselves. GOD is Merciful towards you.

(4:30) Anyone who commits these transgressions, maliciously and deliberately, we will condemn him to h**l. This is easy for GOD to do.

  4. Suicidals generally; goes to heaven.

The ones who are in h**l permanently are those who commit suicide for being bored or for no reason; like the cases of Switzerland and Sweden.

Others; who commit suicide for depression or frustration; are always in a case of a tempoarry insanity; and insanes are forgiven.

    You can pray for her.

    Edit: How old was she?

  5. I can only think that many people who kill themselves are not in their right minds.  They are crazy with mental pain.  Therefore it may be that God has mercy on them.

  6. Hadith - Bukhari 2:445, Narrated Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak

The Prophet said, "Whoever intentionally swears falsely by a religion other than Islam, then he is what he has said, (e.g. if he says, 'If such thing is not true then I am a Jew,' he is really a Jew). And whoever commits suicide with piece of iron will be punished with the same piece of iron in the h**l Fire."

Narrated Jundab the Prophet said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him."

Hadith - Bukhari 7:576, Narrated Qais bin Abi Hazim, see also Bukhari 8:361, 438

We went to pay a visit to Khabbab (who was sick) and he had been branded (cauterized) at seven places in his body. He said, "Our companions who died (during the lifetime of the Prophet ) left (this world) without having their rewards reduced through enjoying the pleasures of this life, but we have got (so much) wealth that we find no way to spend it except on the construction of buildings. Had the Prophet not forbidden us to wish for death, I would have wished for it." We visited him for the second time while he was building a wall. He said, -A Muslim is rewarded (in the Hereafter) for whatever he spends except for something that he spends on building."

Hadith - Bukhari 7:670, Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet said, "Whoever purposely throws himself from a mountain and kills himself, will be in the (h**l) Fire falling down into it and abiding therein perpetually forever; and whoever drinks poison and kills himself with it, he will be carrying his poison in his hand and drinking it in the (h**l) Fire wherein he will abide eternally forever; and whoever kills himself with an iron weapon, will be carrying that weapon in his hand and stabbing his abdomen with it in the (h**l) Fire wherein he will abide eternally forever."

    Hadith - Muslim #6485

Hammam b. Munabbih said: Abu Huraira narrated to us ahadith from Allah's Messenger and out of these one is that Allah's Messenger said:  none amongst you should make a request for death, and do not call for it before it comes, for when any of you dies, he ceases (to do good) deeds and the life of a believer is not prolonged but for goodness.

    Hadith - Muslim #6480

Anas (b. Malik) reported Allah's Messenger as saying: None of you should make a request for death because of the trouble in which he is involved, but if there is no other help to it, then say:  O Allah, keep me alive as long as there is goodness in life for me and bring death to me when there is goodness in death for me.

Hadith - Al-Tirmidhi #1613, Narrated Jabin ibn Abdullah [Ahmad transmitted it.]

Allah's Messenger said, "Do not wish for death, for the terror of the place whence one looks down is severe. It is part of a man's happiness that his life should be long and Allah Who is Great and Glorious, should supply him with repentance."

    Hadith - Qudsi 28

There was amongst those before you a man who had a wound. He was in [such] anguish that he took a knife and made with it a cut in his hand, and the blood did not cease to flow till he died. Allah the Almighty said: My servant has himself forestalled Me; I have forbidden him Paradise.

    The Noble Qur'an - An-Nisa 4:29

...And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another).  Surely, Allah is Most Merciful to you.

  7. The islamic culture prays those who kill themselves in the name of alah for supposibly a reason and cause for alahs name. I think its stupid. As a catholic if you commit suicide your condemed for life. That was really harsh how your cuz died though.

  8. Id roast some marsh mellows and  poor one for your cuz

  9. Committing Suicide is haraam

  10. Islam, does not allow suicide. Muslims say and believe this...Who are we to kill ourselves? Allah is the giver and taker of life. We die only when he wishes.

Just read the Quran for your cousin and pray surat Al Fatiha and surat Al Nas and all the other surahs are good too.

    May Allah help you.

  11. I'm very sorry to here that.May Allah give you patience.Although suicide is haraam,I would like to add that duaa and prayers are recieved by those who are no longer with us.Also, duaa can change ones written fate,so may Allah grant peace to her soul.take care.

  12. Its A Sin 2 Commit Sucidide If Your A Muslim.

So Um... She Aint Exactly Goin 2 Heaven.

You Can Pray 4 Her Though

I Hope Your Family Is Okay Though

    Sorry Abt That

  13. What was the reason? And why would you say it like it was her fault, it seems nothing to you? She killed herself, and you would say "for a stupid reason"?! What the **** are you? Be nicer next time and really care. It dosn't seem that you care AT ALL. That was really rude.... Anyways. She would go to heaven, I know it. =) Just pray for her.

  14. the best you can do is to ask Allah (swt) the merciful to forgive her.

also try to do something as a charity so may Allah forgive her:

(When the son of Adam dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: knowledge which is beneficial to others, a righteous child who prays for him, or ongoing charity which he leaves behind. )

  15. in any country suicide is wrong and you should definatly pray for her she really needs it!!!

  16. I am sorry to hear that sis, it must be really hard on you and your family, may allah have mercy on her soul ya RAB........ Pray sis no harm in praying, Fateha

  17. Wow i'm sorry to hear that ,my dad's cousin did the same thing and from what i know suicide is a sin in islam and any religion so we really need to pray that god will forgive them .

  18. God is the Author of all life.  Thus, when we reject His plan for our lives, the usual reasons are despair, lack of hope and trust, or we are mentally unbalanced.  Your friend chose immolation, a truly painful death.  I think she was unbalanced thus God will forgive her.  However, she may have led a life full of rejecting God.  Those "sins" are between her and God.

The Roman Catholic Church teaches that at the moment we appear before God, both we and God realize how deserving of h**l we are.  At this point Padre Pio believes that we will have the opportunity to repent and beg for mercy.  I hope that is true.

  19. I'm afraid it's too late, but only Allah knows:

    Suicide

    Baqarah {2:195}

"You shall spend in the cause of God; do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. You shall be charitable; God loves the charitable."

    Nisa {4:29}

"O you who believe, do not consume each others' properties illicitly - only mutually acceptable transactions are permitted. You shall not kill yourselves. God is Merciful towards you.

    Nisa {4:30}

"Anyone who commits these transgressions, maliciously and deliberately, we will condemn him to h**l. This is easy for God to do."

Narrated by Jundab, the Prophet said:

"A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: 'My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him.'"

But in the end, only Allah knows.

  20. This is really horrible to hear.  I am sorry that both you and your cousin had to go through such a terrible event.  I'm not a muslim, but suicide is always a terrible tragedy, that is painful for eveyone involved, the unfortunate soul who did commit suicide and the friends and family around them.  I think the best you could do is pray that she has peace and contentment wherever she is now.

Again, I am sorry for your loss!

  21. For the sake of all who work in mental health-a stupid reason was actually a serious mental illness that was unnoticed. Especially the nature of the suicide-burning oneself to death. That is an extreme,  and violent painful way to die.

Pray for her and all those around her. They must be very disturbed and upset.

  22. Ramadan Section?

well in islam killing your self is a big sin and would go straight to h**l because it is a cowardly act and she has no right to end her life (from an islamic perspective)

your body is like a leased car....you have no right to sell the car or paint it red cause technically it belongs to the company your leasing it from.

  23. Please check out the link at the end of my post to read on the topic fully.

I'm posting just the ruling on praying for the one who killed himself or others.

    --------------------------------------...

The following excerpt is taken from the book, "The Inevitable Journey Part 3: Funerals - Regulations and Exhortations by Muhammad al-Jibaly.

    PRAYING FOR THE SINFUL

    Sinful Muslims

As stated earlier, the janazah prayer must be offered even for a faajir (a corrupt person or sinner who had indulged in disobedience and transgression), such as one who did not pray [regularly*], did not pay zakah, was an alcohol addict, used to commit zinaa, and so on. However, those who are respected for their knowledge and piety in the community should attempt not to attend, as a form of punishment and reprimand for people like him. This was the practice of the Prophet (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam), as in the hadith of Zayd Bin Khalid (in the beginning of this chapter) regarding the man who stole from the booty.

Also, Abu Qatadah (radiyAllahu 'anhu) reported that when Allah's Messenger (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) was invited to pray janazah he would inquire about the deceased. If he is praised as having been good, he (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would stand and pray for him. But is he is described as having been otherwise, he (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would tell his family, "You take care of him." And he (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would not pray for him.

And Jabir Bin Samurah (radiyAllahu 'anhu) reported that a man fell ill, and his family wailed over him. His neighbor came to Allah's Messenger (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and told him that he died. The Prophet (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) asked him "How did you know?" The man replied, "I saw him." He (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "He did not die." So he went back and heard the wailing again. His wife said, "Go to Allah's Messenger and tell him (about the wailing)." The man said, "May Allah curse him." Then he went to his neigbor's house and found that he had cut his throat with a knife. He went to the Prophet (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and told him that he died. He (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) again asked him, "How did you know?" He replied, "I saw him cutting his throat with a blade that he had with him." He (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) asked "You saw him do that?" He said, "Yes." The Prophet (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Then I will not pray janazah for him." (Recorded by Muslim, Abu Dawud and others)

    At-Tirmithi said:

This is a good hadith. The people of knowledge have differed about this; some of them say that the Muslims should pray for everyone who faces the Qiblah in prayer, and for the one who commits suicide. This is the opinion of Sufyan at-Thawri and Ishaq. Ahmad said, 'The imam should not pray for the one who commits suicide, but other people than the imam should.'" (Sunan ut-Tirmithi)

    Ibn Taymiyyah said:

"If someone refuses to pray janazah for one of those (a killer, robber, and one deep in debt), as a warning for those like him from doing similar acts - this is good. And if one refused to do that in public, but makes supplication for him in secret, thereby fulfilling both interests - this is even better." (Al-Iktiyarat p. 52)

*word inserted by Muttaqun OnLine, as those who completly abandon salat are not Muslim, and if reliable witnesses establish before the Ameer (leader) that the person had undoubtedly abandoned salat altogether, the person would not be considered Muslim and would not, of course, receive a Muslim funeral. Establishing this is harder (requires a very high burden of proof) once the person is dead, as the dead person cannot defend themself.

Hadith - Related by Ahmad, Dawud, at-Tirmidhi, anNasa'i and Ibn Majah

Buraidah reported that the Prophet  said, "The pact between us and them is prayer. Whoever abandons it is a disbeliever."

Also: And never (O Muhammad SAW) pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave. Certainly they disbelieved in Allâh and His Messenger, and died while they were Fâsiqûn (rebellious, - disobedient to Allâh and His Messenger SAW). (At-Tawbah 9:84)

  24. Very sorry to hear a bad news. Suicide is totally forbidden in Islam. Life and Death are in the hands of Allah and one cannot even have the right to harm oneself, then how about get into self killing.

All the hadith and Quraanic verses are already quoted by many above. Let's just pray 'May Allah save all Muslims from all forms of suicides.

  25. Inalila-hi wainalila rajioon

Suicide is sin, therefore it's kinda bad. However, Prayer is a miraculos thing. Prayer answers all problems, there is always hope, so have faith and rust in Allah, because truely, Allah LOVES to forgive and answer prayers that are in need.

I shall Pray for your family, and for Allah to forgive her soul.

  26. Suicide is forbidden by Islam because it is murder of oneself.  Allah is the sole Giver of life and death.  The life He gave us is a precious gift.

It has its joys and sorrows.  We must use it according to Allah's commands.  We should not misuse it according to our whims of the moment.  Suicide is an act springing from cowardice and not from bravery.

You may make dua for her forgiveness.

  27. I'm very sorry that your cousin had to stoop down to suicide, but inshallah I will pray for her and her family.

Suicide is strictly forbidden in Islam due to the fact that Allah has given us all life and only Allah has the right to take one's life away as he is our one and only Creator.  Committing suicide is like saying to God "Well you gave me life, but now I will take it away."  Very very wrong indeed.

"Do not kill yourselves, for Allah is compassionate towards you. Whoever does so, in transgression and wrongfully, We shall roast in a fire, and that is an easy matter for Allah." (an-Nisaa 4:29-30)

    Narrated Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak:

The Prophet said, "Whoever intentionally swears falsely by a religion other than Islam, then he is what he has said, (e.g. if he says, 'If such thing is not true then I am a Jew,' he is really a Jew). And whoever commits suicide with piece of iron will be punished with the same piece of iron in the h**l Fire." Narrated Jundab the Prophet said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him." (Sahih Bukhari 2.445)

  28. As Salaam to you all,

I believe that most of your replies have given you some good advice but other than giving you my own condolences I must however give you some reality of what Islam says.

Suicide is Haram, of the worst kind, for it cheats Allah (SWT) of the intended time for their death. Secondly, prayers should not be said for this person over the actions they took but rather they should be for her past good character. You said she committed suicide over a really stupid reason? If she was being forced into something which was against her faith, even a forced marriage, then under Islamic Law it may not be classed as suicide.

From your additional information I must render my reply accordingly, in that the suicide stands for a trivial reason as you put it but it must have been very serious for her to even contemplate such an action. Under such conditions, then one would presume that her mind became unbalanced and for this act she was without true reason and she would therefore be classed as being mentally ill at that time.

Only Allah (SWT) is the knower of all our actions and intentions and He is the ultimate judge in all matters.

    Wa Salaam

  29. Suicide in any religion is considered a sin. So, yes that was a sin but that doesn't necessarily mean that she will go to h**l. If she had a good life and obeyed Allah's laws, and she is saved. She won't go to h**l. Try and pray for her to get rid of that sin. Try wikipedia to see what islam thinks about suicide.

  30. omg im so sorry to hear that

suicide is haram in islam no matter what reason you are doing it for cuz ur body is not urs, it belongs to allah only our soul is ours. muslims believe that all life is allah's and we will return to him on the day of judgement

i think you can pray that the rest of the world does not follow what she did, i dont think you can do anymore than that

"You shall spend in the cause of God do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. You shall be charitable; God loves the charitable."
