Question:

Question on Privacy of Medical Records?

I have heard that some employers and government license boards ask that the applicant submit their medical records upon applying.

Does this mean that the employer or license board would have access to ALL medical records that a person has from their whole adult life?

Or does it simply mean that the applicant would go to his/her doctor and choose what records to submit? Like the doctor would fill out a small form saying their basic health info.?

I went to Planned Parenthood to get treated for an STD after a sexual assault. Will my Planned Parenthood records show up if I sign away the right to view my records?

  1. You will be giving them specific authorization for a specific doctor.  Don't mention planned parenthood.  It has nothing to do with employment.
