Ok let me tell you my scenerio. I have physically windows XP and I have 1.5 GB of RAM currently I did have 2.24 GB of RAM but after benchmark tests I decided that the 1.5 GB of RAM performed better because all four RAM modules were the same brand and speed and the 2.24 Gig set up wasnt the same brands I have a dual channel mother board but currently I made my windows XP look exactly like Windows Vista and as we know the vista look eats a gig of RAM at any given time so my question is should I go with the 1.5 Gig set up like I have now or should I go with the 2.24 gig setup ?

  1. I would say go with the 1.5GB because even if XP looks like Vista, it doesn't use as much RAM as Vista. Vista does not use that 1GB of RAM just for appearance, but also for performance.

  2. It may be more helpful if you give us the make, model, speed and the timings of the ram in question. Then I could really tell you which is better. You may be better off running single channel but I can't tell based on what you have given here.

  3. 1. Dual channel needs matching ram. It's the fastest way to go.

    2. No mater how much you make XP look like Vista...it's not vista. XP is a resource hog, as all M$'s OS' are.

Final word: go with the matching ram in dual channel.
