Question on a strange hornet nest?!?!?

Question

its on a porch in upper pennsylvania. it has a one inch nest like thing at the end. and about 5 inch long tube like thing coming from it and there is only one hornet or wasp-like thing going in it. its about an inch long body. what is it? or do you have anysuggestions on how to find out? (i already looked at ask.com and googled it)

sounds like a mud dauber(type of wasp that kills spiders and stores them inside the tube to feed the baby wasps)
