hi

i need some info on cat 5 and cat 6 ethernet cables

i was actually looking for diffference between cat 5 and cat 6 cable type

and based on what i found, it says

CAT-5 is rated to 100M

what does M mean here ...when it says 100M, what does it refers to

  1. Cat 5 is rated up to 100 Mhz

    Cat 6 is rated up to 250 Mhz

    cat 6 has better attenuation characteristics and can support higher bit rates.

    Read the wikipedia entries for all the details.


  2. I believe it's meters, cat 5 is rated to run a distance of 100m after that it won't be as effective as it should be
