Question on connecting Vonage.?

Ok so i have a modem connected to a router and i am planning on getting vonage with the new vonage V-Portal.Since my router and modem are upstairs i was wondering is it still possible to keep them upstairs and some how get the v-portal to connect to the internet downstairs where i want to keep my main phone or do i have to bring my main phone upstairs and connect the v-portal to the internet wired

I bought a V-Tech set up.  There is a wireless broadcast station that will broadcast to up to 4 phones.  Each phone merely registers and then sits in a cradle anywhere in the house.  The phones connect wireless to the broadcast station.  The broadcast station hooks via an Ethernet cable to my router.  The set up was very simple.  My house is three stories, the router is in the basement, and all phones are clear and work well.
