I have a two part question:

I have a van that I use regular unleaded, but I noticed inside the gas cap lid, it says I can use Ethanol (E85)... but I cannot find gas stations: www.e85fuel.com/index.php

My second question is what are the newer cars they sell as hybrids run on (like the Toyota Prius)??

Thank you!

  1. The Prius cannot use E85.  Its recommended fuel is 87 octane gasoline.

  2. Ethanol is better for your van than gasoline.  It burns cooler and cleaner in the engine than gasoline does.  It will leave fewer deposits in your fuel lines.  And you get 10-15% more horsepower with E85.    You will be cleaning up the environment and helping our economy as well.  Ethanol is clean, renewable, and made in America.  Gasoline is none of those things.

  3. The Prius runs on gas  and electricity mix (doesn't need to charge) and gets about 40mpg. But one group reformatted it to run completely on electricity. It is probably also E85 compatible. If there isn't an E85 station around you, you'll just have to click the "I Need E85 In My Town" link and wait. E85 will become a lot more popular once gas prices go to 5 dollars a gallon.

  4. Ha-ha...your prius gets 40 mpg ...and my harley gets 40 mpg.  Mine is faster and more fun to drive too.

  5. you lose performance and economy with e85.

ethanol doesn't have the energy content gasoline does.
