  1. You should start picking them when they start getting reddish, and appear ripe. Home grown peaches usually don't get as big as ones at the grocery store, so pick them when they are plum size.

  2. if you are going to eat them right away, pick them when

they start to turn soft. The longer they ripen on the tree, the

sweeter and more flavourful they will be. the size of the peach depends on the variety, the weather they get during the growing season. Fertilizing the tree will also make them bigger.

  3. they should look red orange .... i used to have a peach tree ... mmm yum

  4. Once they start to get soft at all they are ready.  The big ones will get soft first and the ones in the most light.  If they still look green let them grow more because once you pick them they will not get any sweeter.  If you leave them on too long they will start to get an over ripe taste.
