Ever time i have a solid stool i have blood in or striped on the stool. It is red and not black. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy in a couple days and have already had a cat scan that showed nothing. I have had lower stomach cramps and very loose stools in the morning. I know the cat scan doesn't mean nothing at all is there but i would think it would be small able to take care??? If it is internal hemorriods could loose stools and some change in bowel habits be possible. I must also say my blood count is perfect so i am not loosing much. Looking for a little piece of mind before the big day. Thank you for all your answers.

  1. You can have hard stool and soft stool and still have inner hemorrhoids.

  2. Hemorroids can bleed when you pass hard stool.  Psyllium vegetable fiber can help loosen the stool and make it easier on your system.  Your colonoscopy will give you peace of mind.  My guess is, it is just hemorroids and not cancer.

  3. Red blood on the stool usually indicates bleeding in the r****m or at the a**s (usually indicative of hemorrhoids or something in that area).   The colonoscopy will check for that and other areas of the large intestine from the r****m, up the descending colon, across the transverse colon and down the right side ascending colon to the cecum and appendix area.  If you opted to not be sedated you would see (and remember) the areas and anything the doctor says during the procedure. The most interesting thing is that the area where your internal hemorrhoids are won't be look at until the colonoscopy is almost done when the doctor gets the scope to do a 180 degree flip and look backwards in the r****m.   A fascinating experience if you have an inquisitive nature about you.  I have never been sedated for a colonoscopy and I have never regretted my decision.
